I can’t find the article but I’ve posted it before, before last season the Cards came to an agreement with Helsley to use him pretty much exclusively with a lead and a save opportunity. Helsley and his people felt in 2023 he was overused and never knew when he might be brought into a game.

There is a theory that when you're tied at home heading into the 9th inning you always bring in your closer unless he's been overworked.
We debated this prior to the ninth between myself and my customers I was entertaining at last nights game.
I had no issue sticking w/Leahy who's been as good as any RP in MLB, one agreed w/me but the other two wanted Helsey.
My reasoning was I preferred Helsley in the 10th given his strikeout power w/the stupid ghost runner at 2nd base.
Hindsight is 20-20, I have no issue w/Oli sticking w/Leahy.

Interesting. Rock, if I'm not being too nosy, what is your field? I've noticed you post that you go to most home games.

Has he been seen since the tornado hit STL?
Why would the Cards FO/medical staff hide this from us?
Ok, I'll quit.

I own my own company I founded about twelve years ago and have had season tixs for over a decade that I use to entertain or gift to customers.
My wife, aka the boss (aren't all our wives "the boss"

), forbids me from saying anything more about it on social media so what we do (re: field) will have to remain a mystery.

It is funny no one had any complaints about Lehay staying in to pitch until after he gave up the run
