Sorry. Misunderstood you when you said he wasn’t STL raised. Didn’t know you meant he wasn’t raised in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system.

JD Drew had a really good MLB career (44.9/46.0 bWAR/fWAR).

He's not the biggest bust, but I was fooled by the Pete Kozma pick....fooled big time.
The offense NEVER what was promised or hoped for.
It's the chance you take with taking those coveted HS SS...they very likely will never be able to hit against greater competition (Pro Pitching)

Inasmuch as Walker Buehler was the very next pick, Nick Plummer should be added to the list. The promising career of Alex Reyes was derailed by injuries, so I’m not sure “bust” is a fair description. But he was definitely a huge disappointment.

Injuries definitely factor into whether someone’s a bust. Plus, he came back from those injuries and still wasn’t that good.

Anthony Reyes and Alex Reyes were pretty big bust. If I remember correctly, Anthony Reyes was more highly regarded than Wainwright.
If Walker doesn’t figure it out I’d say he’s got to be near the top of the list though.

Joe Hague deserves serious consideration.
Cepeda was the STL 1B in 1968.
He was traded and replaced by Joe Torre for 1969.
Torre was moved and split time in 1970 between catcher/3b.
To make room for Hague at 1b.
Hague replaced TWO Hall-of-Fame first basemen in STL.
In 2 years as the full-time starter at the position, he averaged 15 HR and 61 RBI.
He was done in STL, was never again an MLB starter, and was out of baseball by 1973.

Alex agree 100% Anthony I can see also but man I will give him a free pass for the 8 inning 2 run start agsinst the tigers for the World Series. I would add Alan benes though
