Exactly.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 17:28 pm No one is untouchable - however, they represent exactly the kind of young, quality players that a rebuilding organization like the Cardinals should be doing everything to acquire. So if you already have them, it would make almost no sense to trade them.

scott untouchable...lol,seriously?...my guess is he ends up a spare outfielder ultimatelyMonsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:25 pm Both are young. Both are well above average defensively. Both are extremely fast and potential base stealers. Both keep improving at the dish.
Sure, in theory no one is untouchable. But realistically thinking...these guys have to be regarded as untouchable, don't they?
Anyone else? Maybe Libby & Pallante? Maybe Noot? Thoughts?

No chance payroll is going up that high next season.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 16:04 pmNot if they offload Arenado then take payroll back up to 180-200 million for 2026.alw80 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 16:01 pmIts hard to say what exactly their value is. But this team has a serious lack of top end talent and I don't think anyone on this team should be untradeable. We're a few years away from being a serious contender.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 15:34 pmBoth show signs of years of big league talent and presently , cost controlled talent. If you were to move either of them tomorrow who would you want in return?

Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
Why? With all due respect, why are you not high on Scott? I see a 24 year-old kid who plays a superb CF (a premium defensive position) ...a kid who has elite speed and base-stealing ability...a kid with a great attitude...and a kid who takes quality ABs.jbrach wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 17:31 pmscott untouchable...lol,seriously?...my guess is he ends up a spare outfielder ultimatelyMonsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:25 pm Both are young. I don't know...seems like the kinda guy everyone would want.

You build around that core.
Gorman & Walker could force their way in but thus far they haven't.
Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
Cards should be 15-17 after winning doubleheader and day game tomorrow. Not a record you start saying players are untouchable regardless of age.
Mets come into STL for 3 game set and the winds of support will have a 51% chance of blowing different direction. Winn and Scott II as core is reasonable conversation at this point. Bloom as POBOy, the conversation takes on whole different tone.
Cards are tattooing the Reds, well except Gorman who is to this point 0 for the day. Burleson is free falling again. At least Walker has double and couple RBi's. Maybe Brown's work in going opposite field is starting to gain results. Gorman no for core player - trade. Burleson - no core player - trade. Walker - keep and see where he goes offensively.

What exactly can we get now for Gorman or Burly? A crate of medical tape and some used pitching rubbers?ilcubuffs wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 18:57 pm Cards should be 15-17 after winning doubleheader and day game tomorrow. Not a record you start saying players are untouchable regardless of age.

Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
I'm slightly concerned over Winn's back issues, but I love him as a player.
Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
In two games Winn has risen his OPS from .619 to .780
He's now hitting .352 over his last 62 PA.

"What exactly can we get now for Gorman or Burly? A crate of medical tape and some used pitching rubbers?"
I would suggest zip unless packaged with player of value (Donovan, Noots, Helsley, etc). OF course there could always be the obscure player to be named later or the typical current FO action of future prospects who used yards of the mentioned medical tape.
Singularly Gorman and Burly may garnish used medical tape. Used pitching rubbers would place the transaction in the "wanted to much" category.

I got slammed for suggesting he be moved to the OF a while ago GF, but yes I think he could make the move.Goldfan wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 18:00 pmCan Herrera catch a fly ball in LF?rockondlouie wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:44 pm Noot

BUT
He can also be the full time DH and they can stop WASTING PA's on the useless Baker and Bumbles who s u c k.
Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
In a game of tag ...................... pretty much untouchable.
Currently would be among the last players I think the Cards should consider trading.

Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
You have a guy like Herrera who can rake, he can’t throw to 2nd at C, and Pages seems to handle things behind home plate…..This is a no brainer. DH/LF. This team has to have the most stupid idiots ever employed by a MLB team. WC sucks his whole career at 2nd in order…..so bat him there a whole wasted month. Burly does absolutely nothing for you but he seems to be slotted all over the field and in RBI spots in the order every night……Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑01 May 2025 09:13 am^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^rockondlouie wrote: ↑01 May 2025 08:45 amI got slammed for suggesting he be moved to the OF a while ago GF, but yes I think he could make the move.Goldfan wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 18:00 pmCan Herrera catch a fly ball in LF?rockondlouie wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:44 pm Noot
