One of those strikes was definitely a ball, the high strike is a ball 95% of the time, but the garbage he swept at wasn't even close to the zone.

He manages with no sense of urgency. He did the same thing last year and our season completely got away from us.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 12:44 pm Met's Telecast first comments of the game, paraphrasing: "Nolan Arenado getting an off day. That's surprising. Sure is. Could understand if you hadn't dropped the first 3, but you don't want to get swept, especially in a 4 game series. That can be demoralizing."
As usual, paint-by-numbers Oli thinks he has masterfully outthought every situation and as always, he has no pulse for the here and now. Gawd I f'n HATE this guy.
Holding Saggese close was key. Didn’t let him steal hence score on Willy’(poop). Would have taken another hit maybe.
Burly may just set the all time record for stranding runners on base. Why he keeps hitting 5th is a mystery!cardsfaninla wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 12:50 pm Gonna be hard for Burly to get un-slumped with strike zone like that.
Old school number three hitter was fast, 20 hr power, many doubles, high average, type. The number five hitter was very similar just lessor in all noted catagories. Burleson doest fit that description at number five.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 12:51 pmBurly may just set the all time record for stranding runners on base. I assume you were watching closely his first at bat and Holmes pitches. First pitch was outside (ump calls it a strike ) , then he throws two more pitches for 'ball's .. Count 2-1 .. then 4 th pitch was above the corner of outside strike zone. Burly takes again .. Ump calls it a strike .

So 4 pitches and none of them in the strike zone yet Burly has 2-2 count on him . His good eye for taking all four was screwed by the ump.
Then the pitcher throws a high fastball .. Yes, Burly goes for it but can't blame him much. With 2 strikes on him and two pitches out of the zone already called 'balls' he probably figured I better swing or risk getting called a strike out . If ump calls those first four pitches correctly, Burly walks and bases are loaded . Screw job on Burly !
The other day Libby was compared to a young Clayton Kershaw ... not in overall ability but similar over the top 12 to 6 curveball motion to the batter.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 12:56 pm Darling, just compared Libby to Viola. A “young” Viola
