There is only so much [nonsense] one can listen to. Need to call it out on occasion..especially when the Paid Propagandists are out at in force.
Attack the post (the other poster's opinion), but never personally attack the poster. It's simply the wrong thing to do.
Period. Ever.

Some posters falsely and disingenuously attempt to mischaracterize substantive, factual criticism of their posts as “disses,” “personal attacks,” or “insults” and manipulatively try to play the victim after routinely instigating with their own notoriously provocative behavior.

Over the years I've seen high-highs and low-lows. I've also been treated to 9 WS's and we won 4 of 'em. Many times, especially during down years, I felt like giving up on a lost season but never could. Can't not watch, won't stop caring, it's in my DNA and like 2011 taught us, you never know.

The personal attacks in CT are pointless. Three suggestions.

- If you don't like a post, respond, ignore but stop the condescending and smarmy personal assaults.
- If you don't like a poster, respond, ignore or don't read but spare us the petty attacks and piling on.
- If you don't like me, respond, ignore, or don't read.

Most posters have insightful takes or pose interesting questions. I like learning from different perspectives.

A recent post was titled something like 'It's hard to be a Cardinals fan in recent years''. True enough. The steady decline over the past decade from FO arrogance, unforced errors, mismanagement and indifference is hard to endure. But thoughtful fans know how lucky we are as Cardinals fans. I live in Oregon but was born and raised in the StL. I'll always be proud of that, even in years when watching the Cards feels like punishment.

So, enjoy the game tonight, and for those self-appointed guardians of baseball truth, consider a tall glass of ice-cold shut the fork up at the ready.
I hate to tell you but you've just laid out the rug for the types of posts you're trying to prevent. lol
Maybe so, but the poster exemplifies decency.
Wait a minute.
That's my role.

I did enjoy the game.
Well pitched.
Well played.
Which is all I ever care about.
Only and always about the game - in a kind, courteous, gracious fashion.

Sure, NY. I guess a poster calling another poster a “little girl” and an “a z z” doesn’t qualify as a personal attack in your thinking?

Why in the world would you end a post that advocates to stop condescending assaults and attacks with negative, insulting language? The irony is incredible.
There is a difference between telling someone he's a f*cken idiot vs. self-righteous. One is flat out hateful and bullying. The other is being called out.

He's just politely telling others if they are hateful and bullying to considering keeping their mouth shut if you feel the need to be like that. The ones hateful/bullying types tell you aren't fit to even post here. One is telling them to knock off the hatefulness, the other is agressive, mean-spirited and designed to encourage people to not post on here again.

Look you may consider my take to be ignorant, simplistic, uninformed, but that doesn't give you the right to be an ahole about it. I think that's what he means. If you don't like it, that's fine, you can say that you think it is simplistic, uninformed, etc. But when you start calling them a d*mb*ss, then you are being an ahole. I think that's more what he means.

This thread just created 3 pages and counting of personal attacks…

I hear ya though, it can be frustrating when you’re interested in a topic only to see it filled with personal attacks.

Really, NY? Is it "substantive, factual criticism" when a poster says to you "I'd be willing to bet you never had a male figure in your life, and were raised exclusively by women, I can almost smell you yeast infections simply by reading your posts...."
Is that the kind of "substantive, factual criticism" you're referring to? If you think it is, you're sicker than he is.

+1,000,000... theee is a poster who attacks people because of what language they use, if they don't follow his posting rules, and constantly calls other posters names...and he'll whine and whine if anyone says a bad word about DeTwit and Mo-ran

You made some very good suggestions. There seem to be many smart posters on CT that, unfortunately, thrive on personal attacks. It's baffling.
I never understood the personal attack thing. Been reading this board for years and never once did I feel the need to launch a personal attack against someone I disagree with.

Exactly. He is not taking his own advice. He could simply put posters he doesn't like on ignore and not respond to them. So in addition to being disingenuous, he doesn't appear to be very self-reflective.
