Sign Snuggerud when MInnesota seasons over and get him to Springfield. They are hurting and could use a lift. Hopefully, they qualify for the playoffs and he could help them. And, if the Blues fall our of the playoff hunt, or if someone on the Blues gets hurt or their game falls off, bring him up.
Snuggerud isn't signing unless he gets an NHL game this year to burn a year of his ELC.
What makes you say that?
Why wouldn't he want to get pro playoff experience at Springfield with prospects he will likely be playing with for the foreseeable future?
You assume he would rather just do nothing after his season is over?
I doubt they would even send him down there. If/when he signs he will most likely be on the big club so he can experience. Not necessarily playing but just the experience of it so he knows what to work on in the off season.
I was thinking that could be the scenario, but he's still only 20 until June so despite Army saying last year at this time that he's a man, I think it's still possible he gets his feet wet with Springfield. He would have to replace someone on this roster that is meshing well. Texier would be the guy but no idea what's going on there.
up until ~2 weeks ago, it would have been easy to slide him into the 3rd line, but...
still think Tex centering him and Bolduc would be a lot of fun to watch
Unless there is a drastic injury in the next few weeks I'd imagine Alex Texiers time as a Blue are done.
I would agree, but he has a two-year deal. I guess we might try to trade him for a pick, but he doesn't seem hungry enough. It is encouraging to hear Monty praise his work-ethic in practices, but he needs to have a long talk with Ryan Suter about playing hurt/and or sick. My limited research on him, has me thinking this is due to two factors:
He is not from a country with much of any hockey culture. He grew up in Grenoble, which I remember as a winter resort playground of a French town.
The sudden and unexpected deaths of two close family members as a 22 year old put things into a different perspective, a la "Life is short". Does he want to spend it with family and friends in Europe, or pay the price to stay in NA for 9-10 months every year?
I try to understand it, but it is a tremendous waste of great skill and speed paired with excellent size. He could be a fine top-six player in my opinion.
