Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
Shows entire bench and AAA is weak. It really doesn't matter who makes the bench. It's a terrible team.
Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
There is still next another week for a possible trade or cash deal to get done to open up some spots, both in the rotation and the bench before opening day. Scott needs to be in CF, and both Pallante and McGreevy in the rotation. Koperniak has never been appreciated by this organization and needs to go to another team where he can at least be given a chance. He could have went 20-20 this Spring for the Cardinals and still not made the team. That’s not how things were scripted before hand. Scott and Siani could have had polar opposite Springs and still Siani is probably going to stay and be the starter. That’s the way it was predetermined!

My guess is that Sinai’s playing time will dwindle if he doesn’t start hitting. His spot on the 26 man won’t last long after that. Koper is next man up.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 20:58 pm There is still next another week for a possible trade or cash deal to get done to open up some spots, both in the rotation and the bench before opening day. Unfortunately this is correct. Perhaps rhe people making these decisions are being replaced with the new player development emphasis.Melville wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 19:00 pmThe Cardinals don't give chances.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:51 pm Man, too bad for Koperniak. I know he's yet another lefty, but the guy has to get a chance at some point.
They anoint some players and dismiss others long before the season begins.
We have seen it many, many times.
Koperniak's best chance of leaving Memphis is a Cardinal leaving Busch in an ambulance.
Seen it too many times.....Bader, O'Neill, DeJong, Noot, Gorman, Walker, etc.

Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
Saggesse needs to go to Memphis and play some left field. That’s the only way he makes this team is as a rh version of Donovan.
Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
Well, if Scott or Siani is the CF, that pushes Donovan to 2B and Gorman to DH.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:26 pm Looks like the bench is Barrero, Baker, and the other Scott or Siani
Where does that leave Burly? On the bench with Baker and Barrero. Or will Gorman end up on the bench after they've said all offseason he will get every chance this year?
I guess we'll see how 2-faced they can be or won't be.

I think he does. Just needs to keep hitting in the minors.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:51 pm Man, too bad for Koperniak. I know he's yet another lefty, but the guy has to get a chance at some point.

Fermin still seems more likely to meIdaho Cards wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 18:57 pm Barrero is uber talented and I look forward to seeing if our "new" development team can help him lessen the gap between "talent" and "performance." As much as I think Siani is better than his offensive numbers, why the heck are we placing more value on him rather than Koperniak. This is LUDICROUS!!!!

I agree. Clearly not about performance.Idaho Cards wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 18:57 pm Barrero is uber talented and I look forward to seeing if our "new" development team can help him lessen the gap between "talent" and "performance." Koperniak had a +.950 OPS in 136 AB's against LHP last year. Exactly what the team needs paired with Scott.
Siani = .528 in over 100.

Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
Koperniak should get a chance over Siani. The guy has done nothing but hit in the minors and hit in ST. They’re gonna have a hell of a AAA team in April.
