Considering the other defensive liabilities the Cards gave major innings in the outfield last year (Jordan Walker, Burleson) and the teams general lack of K stuff from the pitchers, Siani made alot of sense. Had the rest of the lineup hit like it was supposed to, you can hide his bat.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:52 am He runs fast and he can go pick it in the outfield. And that was good enough for me.
But his noodle bat this spring just doesn't justify his spot on the team, not when there's people performing better offensively with a relatively small defensive downgrade.
Last week of ST means more than the first 3, but that’s a very large gap to close.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:17 pmThat’s basically invisible.Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:10 pmNot at the moment.

I don’t have a great deal of respect for Marmol, but he’s not a complete moron. I wouldn’t assume he’ll always make the wrong decision.kscardsfan wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 13:01 pmHow well have you been paying attention to marmol?Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:10 pmNot at the moment.

Don't denigrate yourself, you're plenty slow. Anybody who's a proponent of Siani starting in CF needs their meds adjusted.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 11:05 amReading is hard, but comprehension beyond you...I can't help you.CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:50 amLOL...comparing the very talented Scott with a castoff from Cincy. You're brilliant. Scott has more talent on his worst day than Siani will have in his entire career. One needs to play and one needs to be gone. Which would you choose?scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:37 amApparently people do need to explain ST. How'd VS2 do last year in ST and then at MLB?CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:15 amWas it ST when he played last year? Siani is the perfect example of an all field no hit player. The time he's getting playing is taking away from other options. Hell, move Noot to center and play any of the young options in left. Koperniak, Church, or put Donovan in left and try Prieto at 2nd. Siani is a dead spot in the lineup. He couldn't hang in Cincy and his offense is dragging down the Cards too. Please, enough with the Siani playing time.![]()
Good luck with that... I'll type slower next time
I'm not a big believer that a hitter will hit better or worse because they're in a different place in the order. I do realize that protection plays a part. Also I realize that the earlier spots get more at bats. I do believe you look at what a player did the previous season and that's why I give Winn the benefit. That's also why I've had enough of Siani. Move Winn down in the order, I don't care. But he plays. Siani? Not so much.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 10:29 amBigger mystery- love for Siani or Winn at leadoff. Explain either.CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:07 am Surely there are better options. Hes not a .050 hitter but he is still an awful hitter who will have a sub .300 OBP sub to low .600 OPS. If you had a great offense you can afford to play him the cardinals don’t so they can’tIdaho Cards wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 13:53 pm I don't believe Siani is a .050 hitter, and Winn will eventully hit; they just need AB's which they are getting. But the development of these two players has to be the priority. IMO the two questions should be: 1) Why is VS not considered the everyday CF? 2) Why does Winn's development have to take place at the Lead-off spot?
I agree 100% OZ that if you pepper the field with plus bats you can afford a weaker bat at either SS, CF, or Catcher but this team will need to consider putting bats on the field. This is why I can't wrap my simple brain around VS3 not being your obvious everyday CF. He's beginning to look hitterishOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 13:58 pmHes not a .050 hitter but he is still an awful hitter who will have a sub .300 OBP sub to low .600 OPS. +1 especially with him employing the bunt more that brings the infield in and lets hard hit grounders get through moreIdaho Cards wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 14:25 pmI agree 100% OZ that if you pepper the field with plus bats you can afford a weaker bat at either SS, CF, or Catcher but this team will need to consider putting bats on the field. I would consider one game a "small sample" size, but I don't believe he is a .050 hitter.
