I think ST matters most for those:
Returning from injury
And
Competing to make the roster
I agree that the offense has been a concern although I have been looking less at the vets and more at critical others(Walker,Gorman,Scott, etc).
In general I think the pitchers most in line to make opening day have performed fairly well.

it's been proven that spring training is the real season
Spring training isn't irrelevant. People are trying to make the team. Pitchers are trying to get people out. Is it the end all be all? Of course not, but shrugging it off like it means nothing belittles the entire process of spring training. Every (drat) ball player out there wants to win. Your smug comments aside, ask a ballplayer if spring training matters or not.
You ask them. It means nothing
Yeah, ask a guy trying to make a team if spring training matters. S[top] T[hose] F[raudulent] U[tterances]
It doesn't. You think Barrero and Koperniak are making the team?
You'd rather have the Sin playing CF? LOL
Did I say that?
You apparently think better players shouldn't be on the team yet you're okay with Siani. Is that correct?

Have you looked at the roster. And the GM. This team wouldn’t produce at AA.

Eh? They've got some good young pieces. They're light on strikeout pitching which bothers me and for some reason they're poor with runners in scoring position, but the entire league hits worse with runners in scoring position. I do firmly believe they're trying to make homerun hitters out of guys that really aren't. This team basically won 83 games last year. Contreras can replace Goldy and maybe even hit better at this point. The pitching though, is substandard. They could and should have upgraded it. They have the money.

Once and for all....Do you support Siana starting in CF? Go ahead, you can answer. I contend he has no place on this team. There are better options. I understand why ownership supports him, he's cheaper than dog excrement, I just don't understand why anyone that loves baseball would want to watch him.

as a Cards fan if you're going into the season expecting the Cards to finish better than 4th place in the division, I think you are being unrealistic and asking for too much. not to say it isn't possible but trying to be realistic

Brewers
Reds
Cubs

then
Cards
Pirates

all 3 of the Brewers Reds and Cubs will be better than the Cards this season. by how much is the question. I think watch out for the Reds with Francona and all that young talent but still think the Brewers are the favorite. all 3 of those teams have better managers than the Cardinals and better squads.

Spring training means something different for all players. Some even hope for early exit so they can go bass fishing!

The AA, AAA guys obviously want to do good individually, I'm sure they don't want the guy they're competing with to do better though.

The ST discussion can go on and on, but the bottom line is
if teams worried about wins/losses in ST they wouldnt play 15 different players every game.

To fret over an 8-10 record is crazy, especially considering they have 4 or5 ties that could have gone either way if game was played out.

It wasn't 8-10 with 4 ties when I posted. They were at the very bottom of the standings. Still, my point stands.
