Yep. Possibly overboard, I’d admit… but I typically lead my leagues in moves, and I typically win them. This is a very deep league, and I did not draft a single legit closer… so there was a bit of a scramble getting some viable options.
I will add that one of those moves, and an early one, included Jared Jones - the best young starter in the league, full stop.
I love making moves, hate that we are capped at three a week. The only closer I drafted was Duran, so still waiting for him to come off the IL. I did pick up Yates yesterday.
Yeah, I picked up Yates too… a couple days ago, right when Bochy tipped that he would be the guy. Surprisingly, nobody else put in a claim. In shallower leagues, I usually get by just being quick on the draw and end up close to the league lead in SV. Don’t think I can pull that off in this one. Gotta hope Yates sticks, but I have a feeling they’ll end up w/ Jansen before the deadline.

I'm going to wait until the end of the month (because it will be easier to calculate the rate stats, e.g., your current ERA * 1/6 + your projected rest of season ERA * 5/6 to get an expected total ERA for the season) to update the new expectations/predictions at that point.

Much better days ahead.
And, FWIW, even if standings three weeks in are basically meaningless, I'd always rather be currently sitting 1st than not sitting first.
That’s what Mark Mulder’s surgeon said.

I thought about adding him but I think I'm comfortable at least for now having 2 closers... even though having Kopech feels somewhat worthless because of how badly the White Sox suck.

If you want someone who qualifies at SS, I'd make Merrill, Estrada, or Garcia available - for differing prices. I'm not trading either Henderson or Seager. And to get Merrill, it will cost you dearly - an .844 OPS bat, with 4 SB, who qualifies at SS AND OF.
What I would want is an exchange of SPs (so a two-for-two deal) where I move Allen, Maeda, or Brown for a clear upgrade.
So:
SP from you + last person on your roster as a throw in to balance the numbers
for
Merrill/Estrada/Garcia + Allen/Maeda/Brown
FWIW - in looking at your roster, I'm not sure you've got a SP that you'd be willing to part with to make that work. Your SPs are probably either too good, or not an upgrade over what I have.
Not a match, the board goes back.
Can’t say I’d be intensely interested in Merrill/Estrada/Garcia. You picked Thairo off the wire, Garcia probably belongs there and Merrill is far from a known quantity. I’ll get by with Turang/Caballero who are both better than anyone you’re offering but (possibly) Merrill.

Nah, you should bail on Hader and deal him for a quality starter like Paul Blackburn, Paul Blackburn or Paul Blackburn.

Seems like half the time I think it’s time to ‘go big’, I end up the sole bidder. 29 Schrute Bucks wasted on Yates &
Jordan Westburg when I could have had them both for nada.
I am no bueño at reading the impulses of this league.

If I were going to counter, I'd say, well, Estrada was probably a 10th round pick in the draft for a reason. And, although he was unceremoniously jettisoned, I think there is reason to believe he'll be much better as the season goes along (he's actually an .820 OPS over the last fourteen days, which is pretty good for my nominal backup at 2B and SS).
But I get where you'd be coming from.
Sitting in 1st, even if early, I don't feel motivated to necessarily change my status quo anyway.
Yeah I dumped Estrada pretty quickly. Partially influenced by him being terrible out of the gate but I also had Carlos Correa start off hot and looking great in our league.
That “last 14 days” catches his one 2 HR game. Hopefully he gets better, I guess, but he’s been awful.
I’ve learned that you have to be comfortable moving off guys even if instincts say to hold - I already dropped Jordan Walker in my H2H points league because he has been unplayable. I dropped him and Estrada in that league but moved Estrada as soon as Betts got SS eligibility.

You can view a history of FAB offers that had bids, or just multiple claims under the ‘FAB offers’ tab where transactions are listed… only while viewing w/ a web browser, not on the app.

I suppose I could have shopped him but wouldn't have been worth the effort and I needed the roster spot to activate Edward Cabrera and get him in my lineup.
Walker being bad is depressing as a Cardinals' fan. It sure seems like their player development engine needs a real tuneup.

Meh. By no means would I give up on Walker’s potential to become a star player. Nor would I consider his current struggles an indictment of Cardinals’ development… but agreed - they do need a tune up.
He just isn’t producing right now. He could be crushing it by June and silence his critics… but obviously we both agree, he isn’t worth a roster spot in fantasy today. That’s definitely depressing.
I’d probably hold on to him in this league, b/c the extra roster spots allow us to play the waiting game. In a standard 12-team, 23-man roster league, not so much.

Yeah worth holding in a 15 teamer. Hell, I'm sitting on James Wood and added Andy Pages & have Dominguez on the IL. Weekly points for money... hard to hold guys if they're not on the IL. It's a 4 OF / 2 UTIL lineup with few bench spots so guys need to be hitting.

Yep, that’s the payoff w/ having a league like this. We aren’t often forced to make potentially terrible decisions.
I mean… I dropped Encarnacion-Strand last year before he even had a chance to start hitting. Then September happened and I was an idiot. Still won the league - but I’m glad we don’t have to make cuts like that in this format.

There is definitely a feeling out period here for me and how people value their draft picks.
We drafted about twice the number as a fantasy football draft (26 rounds vs. 13), so to see people dropping 10th round picks like 1/10 of the way through the season would be like seeing 5th round picks dropped after 2 weeks into an NFL season. I don't see that much, if as all.
Estrada was the 147th overall pick. It's hard to equate that to a top 60 pick in a standard 12 team football draft. It's more like a 12th round pick.
I also felt like I overdrafted Estrada due to some positional scarcity. But a guy taken around 150 off to a slow start shouldn't be that difficult to move off of regardless of when he was drafted. He's currently ranked 354th. That isn't very useful.
Tanner Scott was a 10th round pick and he's looking iffy.
Esteury Ruiz was 10th round pick and has 15 PA.
I've dropped my picks from Rounds 20, 23, 24, 25, and 26, but picked up a 10th, 17th, and 21st round pick.
20 - Reese Olson: fringy but ownable and off to a decent start
24 - Bryan De La Cruz: drafted 360th and currently ranked 191st, owned by DJ Davis
25 - Jake Cronenworth: drafted 361st and currently ranked 124th, owned by whatashame
I get what you're saying, but making drop decisions based on where they were drafted has lost you what were two really good picks in De La Cruz and Cronenworth.
