please be true. PLEASE PLEASE BE TRUE.
I told him the return of Cijntje and Peete aren't bad players, just some risk involved, and maybe the Instructors/Lab can fix Peete.Cusecards wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:28 pm Hmmm....looks like another Classic Goldfan Thread!

They should be...aquire Donovan as their final piece as a world series contender...keep their young stud pitching in the minors while having a top rotation in the majors....job well done
I just want to see him walk out to the mound with two gloves.icon wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:37 pm There may be a carnival barker outside Busch yelling: "Come and see it -- the man who pitches with both arms!"
Knowing the Cardinals and the marketing aspect, they will forbid him from giving up pitching with both arms. Remember the Navy guy who was here just because he was a Navy guy? And Nootbaar, the guy with the cute name they hang on to forever and a day.

Team Logo of Seattle Mariners
Ranked Seattle Mariners #10 prospect in 2026
BA Grade/Risk: 60/Extreme
Adjusted Grade: 40
Track Record: Peete emerged as one of the most intriguing two-way talents in Georgia’s 2023 high school class, drawing attention for his athleticism and raw tools. The Mariners drafted him 30th overall that year, using its supplemental pick after the first round, betting on his long-term offensive potential. Peete rewarded that confidence in his first full season at Low-A Modesto in 2024, batting .269/.343/.408 while showing improved contact and emerging power. His first stint at High-A Everett in 2025 proved more challenging. Advanced pitching exposed areas for refinement, resulting in a .217/.288/.404 slash line.
Scouting Report: Peete’s lefthanded swing is built for power, and he showed it by hitting 19 home runs—12 more than his previous high—as he grew into his frame. However, swing-and-miss concerns remain a barrier. He struck out 162 times in consecutive seasons. In 2025, that total included a 32% overall miss rate, including 25.3% in-zone and a 27% chase rate. Breaking balls give him the most trouble, though he handles velocity well. Originally a shortstop, he moved around the infield before the Mariners transitioned him to the outfield in 2025—a change he has adapted to well. Defensively, he has improved significantly and is now considered one of the stronger emerging outfielders in the Mariners system.
The Future: Reducing his whiff rate will be key to Peete unlocking his upside. If he refines his approach, he could see his stock rise in 2026, likely starting in High-A to polish his game before advancing to Double-A.

Cardinals fans should be thrilled with the return in the Brendan Donovan deal
Cijntje, 22, is one of the most intriguing prospects in all of baseball for one simple reason: He's a switch pitcher.
The 22-year-old is likely going to pitch right handed more often than anything, but he can still dial it up to over 90 miles-per-hour with the left hand. He put together a very solid campaign last season with the Mariners, but will look to build on it in St. Louis.
Peete, 20, seems more like a project than anything. He was selected in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft, but he struggled quite a bit last season. Still, he has all the tools to be an incredible big league outfielder. The 20-year-old has good power, speed, and defense, which makes him one of the higher potential players in the Cardinals farm system.
Ledbetter, 24, has put together a few solid seasons in the minor leagues. He wasn't great last year, but he has the tools to be successful if the Cardinals can get the most out of his bat.
The addition of the Comp B pick is the perfect cherry on top of a great trade for the Cardinals. Time will tell if this trade return pans out the way it could.
Oh he’s not “confused”.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:11 pmThe problem is you are confused and think because a team is interested in a player they will pay anything to get them you’re wrong you were always wrong about that. The cardinals valued him for his intangibles other teams trading for him are looking far more at actual production and Donovan was a 10 hr 50 rbi guy. He doesn’t have much power and doesn’t have much power. I mean would you trade a guy like Doyle or JJ for Donavan? No because he’s a complimentary playerGoldfan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:02 pmThen what is the POINT of all this other than dumping vet contracts???imyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:57 pmGF was asked the same question when he was whining about the return in the Gray trade, whining about the return in the Contrerras trade and whining about the return in the Arenado trade. What player out of this offseason trade return is anyone confident being a solid MLB starter?
He just wants to whine.
With those you mention…..they were old with large contracts is the excuse why Bloom couldn’t get a great return
Now with Donny…..he was one of the top trade targets all offseason and he’s young and CHEAP…..and still not a great return
What quality of player needs to be traded to get an almost MLB ready close to sure thing?
yep....Trade Rumors is listing it, too....I was wrong on #70....it's 68 and 72. Holy Moly, 82birds....that's 6 picks in the top 86.82birds wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:29 pmplease be true. PLEASE PLEASE BE TRUE.
