The netting was put there solely for the fans protection on batted balls.
The rule itself is moronic.
Should be discretionary NOT automatic.
The netting had nothing to do with the play.
If anything it bothered Arenado throwing the ball back in.
Why you let them advance is beyond stupid.

Exactly he had possession of the ball and threw it to the base…..no different if he’s standing at seats and throwing ball to ball. Net didn’t help him, still landed on a seat…..

Posters on CT were saying .. this team cannot win close games. They are gong nowhere this year. They are baaaaaad !

Now look at them .. Fans are also expecting the team to win all the close ones now

This was a potential wildcard type team the Cardinals just swept. Cards are now 16-4 in the last 20 games.

Couldn't help but laugh. 2-10 RISP was a banner day for the Cardinals last season.

I understand it fully. If ball goes out of play on a throw or etc, runners advance one base. Arenado essentially ran out of play with the ball as he full fell in bleachers

I understand letting runners advance if the BALL goes out of play.
But in this case Arenado had possession of the ball so is the ball out of play?
