A struggling Braves team comes in here and outclasses us the first two games of this series. Grant Holmes and two bullpen games and we have to scramble to try to win the finale of this three game series to avoid being swept. I hope BDW/Mo are enjoying this.

The problem isn’t as much with physical talent.
It’s with being mentally soft.
Maton- doesn’t go after Acuna(only the tying run!) ahead 1-2 but serves up a center cut meatball to Murphy as the go ahead run,
Helsley- 0-2 on the #7 hitter leading off and grooves one down central.
Then of course you have multiple hitters flailing at pitches out of the zone even when ahead in the count.
Which then leads to Oli and Pop LOL

TV signal went out . Heard that Braves just had two singles in the inning.
A bunt by Braves moved the lead run to 3rd and then a ground out to 2nd scored the run . Good small ball by Braves scored the run !
Two singles ordinarily should not score a run in an inning. Credit the Braves !

Even with the recent emergence of O'Brien, Granillo, Svanson, Liberatore, McGreevy, this pitching staff is not playoff caliber, which means the team is not playoff caliber.

We have got to assemble some better pitching to get this vehicle out of neutral.

Good news: Some the of worst pitchers (Mikolas, Fedde) are about to leave.
Bad news: Some of the better pitchers (Maton, Helsley, Romero, Matz) are about to leave.

With 6 pitchers leaving soon, they need to add about half of a pitching staff of good pitchers.

Today , the No. 2,3, 4 batters were silent. Winn, Contreras, and Burleson went a combined 0 for 12 . Despite help from Donnie, Gorman , Saggesse, Pozo
it's tough to win when the meat of the order don't get a hit the entire game.
The absence of Herrera has been very telling.

For the first time in my life, I'm starting to get a sick, distorted pleasure from seeing the Cardinals lose heartbreaking games.

No longer heartbreaking, at least not to me. Can't explain it, but I do. Never wanted them to lose, not even earlier in the season. I guess I've just lost all hope after seeing the same garbage 3 years in a row: the Cardinals continuously running out washed-up, overpaid vets who consistently bring the team down when there's better, younger options in the organization.

Oh yeah, they can't pitch for sh*t either.

Meanwhile, the Pirates have lost 8 in a row since shutting out the Cardinals in a 3-game series. And they themselves got shut in a 3-game series vs. the Mariners. That is the state of things.

Well, the game result stunk but the entertainment from the doom and gloomers on here never disappoints! This thread is always a hoot to read when anything bad happens in the game. With the bad beginning and ending to this game I knew this would be a fun read!
