somebody put down 20 bucks for Gorman
That was me. Is he worth it, probably not but I'll end the year with waiver money left so.....
Spending like that you won't.
Just kidding. You wanted him. You got him.
I have often overpaid for a Cardinal as the thought some other jaboney might get him in a league was unpalatable to me. Rarely served me well but in view of no money on the line one must get their kicks wherever they can.
I saw Walker went for 13 bucks the other day.
I thought of putting a cheaper claim on Gorman. But I have Cole Young at 2B, I don't really know what he is but he's doing well. Gorman or Cole Young, seems like either are good choices right now.
Anyways, I'm gonna have to make decisions when I get Lodolo, Chourio off the IL and whenever the Pirates call up Konnor Griffin (what are they waiting for!!!!). So I'll probably have to end up dropping someone. This is a tough league right now because it seems like there are so many good players or enticing players off to good starts. It's hard to tell where to turn right now.

Agree
Personally, I would like to see a bigger bench. Like maybe 10 spots. Lol

31 round draft next year
The draft is one thing. Either way, between IL spots and NA players you are bound to have 2 or 3 extra roster spots to cover before opening day. It's an interesting challenge, you almost have to plan for who you want after the draft to have a roster full of weapons.

One thing that might be considered is not allowing anyone to pickup IL or NA players until season starts. This year several good ones were taken while some of us were waiting for teams to make a decision - example Edman, everyone knew he was going on IL but I could do nothing. We all draft the same day, so seems like the IL/NA spots should all open on the same day.

No doubt I'll probably regret it but I needed to move Tyler "One hit for the Year) Stephenson out of the active roster. If I'm lucky Gorman will go on a one week hot streak and help me in power but kill my BA

That is the drawback to drafting too far ahead of the season. Rosters and IL's haven't been decided yet.

That was me for Walker. Every year, at the end of the season I have like $200 left. Then I’d make high bids for nobodies. And with the amount of teams and roster sizes, it’s not like there’s a ton of times where there will constantly be good players out there. In this league, people aren’t gonna make stupid drops, generally.
I figured why not spend now, also while hoping maybe this is the season Walker finally is decent. I think the bid behind me was five or six bucks. So in the end, I may have wasted seven dollars.
I checked, and you were the one who put down five. So I overspent by seven bucks I’d say.

They are all open the same day. You just can’t put a player on the IL until they’re actually on the IL. I’m not sure how managers could be prevented from adding players.

Yeah, I don't think it is that hard.
If you drafted Player X and find out the next week they are going to eventually be put on IL to start the year, you just have to decide if you like some other player sitting out there as a FA enough to drop Player X.
When we drafted, other than a few guys who were on the 60-day IL because teams knew they weren't coming back for months, I don't think many/any teams had put guys on IL in spring training before they had to to start the season. So pretty much all players were, I think, in the same boat.
The only thing I MIGHT suggest is putting a hold on all waiver moves for like 4-5 days before Opening Day for the last teams which open (i.e., the last teams opened on Friday this year). If you do that, then every team will make all of their IL moves to set their 26-man rosters and all managers will have equal opportunity on that day after (Saturday) to put all of either waiver bids will all players designed as IL-eligible at that point.

That's a good way to look at it, you only overspent by so much.
If you look back in this thread somewhere, there is a documentation of me spending $75 for Richie Palacios a couple years ago
Walker and Gorman can each theoretically be great plays based on the upside. Either could end up being huge contributors.

I like it the way it currently is. I took Griffin around ~130 knowing he was ranked 192, and also knowing he very well could be an NA player to start the year. It's baked into the pick. I was sitting there looking at all the players available within that 120-140 range or so. Did I want to pick one of them over the risk of seeing someone else get Griffin? No I didn't so I took him, nothing unfair about it.
Chourio was a surprise IL guy for me, on Opening Day. And then Nick Lodolo had a blister issue.
I think no matter how you cut it, you're going to end up with roster spots to cover between the draft and Opening day. I like it that way it's a good challenge.

The problem is in NOT being allowed to fill roster spots. I made two picks of guys I knew would be on IL but neither was place officially under the season started. So while you all were adding IL and NA guys, some of us could only watch.
