Cardinals get Rays 24th ranked pick ... Colton Ledbetter in the deal too ..
Ledbetter has no one oustanding tool but very good all around OF player. Nice addition to the trade .

Cijntje, Peete, Ledbetter, and a Comp B pick, if that’s the full deal.
I’ve been saying that people should temper their expectations on what they were going to get for Donovan. We were never getting haul for him, so I’m good with the trade, if that’s all. I’m giving it a solid B, as of now. To get an A they would have to have gotten a haul, in my opinion. Sucks to trade Donovan, but it was the right move.
Weird that we got two LHH back. Will we ever get some RHH?
It's tough to not give them an A all things considered. As you mentioned, they weren't going to get a huge haul for him, but they did get as much as they could have reasonably hoped for. You could argue that they got even more, actually.
Slightly more.

Not bad.
See how they look this summer.
I am glad for Donnie going to a winner.
Third base is weak, I like the Saggese bat, but his arm is lollypop.

There may be a carnival barker outside Busch yelling: "Come and see it -- the man who pitches with both arms!"
Knowing the Cardinals and the marketing aspect, they will forbid him from giving up pitching with both arms. Remember the Navy guy who was here just because he was a Navy guy? And Nootbaar, the guy with the cute name they hang on to forever and a day.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

the Mariners sending switch-pitching prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje and outfield prospect Tai Peete to St. Louis, and sending third baseman Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay.
If it's Tai Peete...he's a nothing player
We're lucky to have so many minor league prospect honks like yourself on the board.
Prove me wrong. Look up his stats... He's a nothing 20 year old who can't handle infield so probably a CFer at best. 30
% k tate. Lots of swing issues. Can run.
Great athlete obvious issues. He's a guy gamblers can get exited about. About as much chance as Blaze.

I know pitching is a wild card (most drafted pitchers anyways), but man do we have a bunch of them stockpiled. Something has to give, we really do not have much when it comes to OF depth, and high-end exciting hitter in the minors. I am not saying we don't have any, just that it is light.
Going to be a very long few seasons boys & girls.
looks like the strategy will be to trade pitching depth to acquire hitters when we've solidified the Rotation in the Majors.....play a guessing game here:
Doyle
McGreevy
Liberatore
Franklin
Cijntje
Mautz
Henderson
Mathews
5 of those above will be in the rotation ....I'm not even considering the recently traded guys like Dobbins and Fitts....maybe I should?
Anyways...once that rotation is set....we'll trade from depth and land some hitters.

I thought Donny was the trade bait to get a top prospect?
This doesn’t look like top prospects

Yep, Bloom has done more positive for the franchise in a few months than Mo had done in the last 10 years.

The old boss killed our farm system. The new boss is stockpiling talent. Completely different.

I don't think we'd get that at the trade deadline....I know we wouldn't get a Comp Pick...the draft is over by then
cooler heads...you're right.
Duce are these future MLB players?
Cijntje is a MLB player....the role? BUt he's a RHP solely now, hope for Starter....we need them.
I'm not a Peete fan, but he's still young....maybe he lowers the K's and starts to hit the ball? The new lab/hitting instructors seemed to fix Josh Baez in late 2024....so anything can happen. Hope it does
72nd pick in 2026....I hope we go BREWERS strat and draft hard to sign HS prospects....we'll have a lot of money to spend with our BOnus allotment. I look forward to this draft and this pick
On the radio this week passan (I think) was talking about cards improved infrastructure and identifying talent they think they can fix. Peete is very young and purportedly 5 tools. Fits that mold.

What great positive has he done other than clearing BDW payroll obligations for question marks.
What player out of this offseason trade return is anyone confident being a solid MLB starter?
