Why not just let Matz keep pitching?
I suspect they want him available at some point in Philly.
good point, with the likes of Schwarber and Harper
True....and the BP has not had to cover many innings the last three days.
Guys can probably use some work?

was there a man on 1st? can't remember
...Yeah, I believe it was Tena. Umps must have called it a line drive instead of an infield fly...

If King doesn't grunt when he throws the breaking/ off speed pitch, is he tipping his pitches?

Would be a nice combo in college. You don't often see guys go one two in the draft from same team.

...Yeah, I believe it was Tena. Umps must have called it a line drive instead of an infield fly...
Infield fly is only with man on both 1st and 2nd or with bases loaded.
Just a man on first isnt infield fly situation.
Reasoning is that every popup with multiple runners on would be dropped on purpose to get a double play.. with just a man on first, usually double play would be avoided just by the batter hustling out the play.

Cards sweep the Nats for their 8th straight win! Great pitching lately and good hitting. Now the road trip gets more difficult with the Phillies.

...Nats DID have men on 1st and 2nd... Abrams was on 1st, Tena on 2nd... Did umps blow it..?? Cost the Nats an out, but favored the Cards the way it was called...

All of a sudden cards got plenty of good pitching. With Herrera back and WillyCon on fire offense now alive. Defense sharp as a tack. Cards buyers now.
Hold your horses big boy. Schedule’s been good to the Cards lately.
