I don’t see him getting past Seattle at three
that's the way it's looking, kyace. Certainly, imo, the #1 on all draft boards. Now will Washington pick him? And will the Angels pick him with their historical chaotic approach to drafting? Seattle would definitely pick him, they love their pitching prospects early in drafts. Washington needs him, imo. They've gone offensively heavy in drafts, and relied on trades to stock their pitching depth.

It'll be interesting....and of course, a lot can transpire between now and the end of the season. Arnold does bring the consistency throughout his college career, unlike the other pitching prospects creeping up boards.

PrepBaseball's 2nd Mock.

read all the scouting reports you can. They, BA and BP always do a good job.

I'm not a fan of the Bremner pick, but w/e. The rest of the picks look legit...with a few excepts like Houston.

Enjoy!!!

Liam Doyle got some major love. Killen did, too...he had a long ways to go vault into the Top 30. He'll get to the top 10 soon enough.

I'm glad Stevenson's bat is producing now, was one of my Top 10 entering the season...a Catcher that can hit, and can Catch

I really don't understand the Plague Vibe that Highschool Pitchers are given by some sites....Seth Hernandez is going to be really good, imo.

Gavin Kilen suffered a lower body injury on Tuesday night, he finished the game, but was a late scratch for Tennessee's opener vs. Alabama last night. The Vol's took over #1 in the Polls this week, but are 0-2 during that span.

Liam Doyle was rocked a bit for the 2nd straight game. SEC play might might be his Kryptonite this season?

6 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 BB, 9 K, 2 HBP....ERA up to 2.03 (he was DOMINANT in the first 4 weeks of the season), K rate 18.00 per 9

Jace LaViolette found his pulse again last night... smacked his 6th HR, lowered his K rate to 19.6%. OPS over 1.000. 106 wRC+.

A&M continues their free fall from preseason #1, and 2024 CWS runnerup.....they're 0-4 in SEC play, 11-10 overall. 8O Losing their weekend opener to Vanderbilt last night

Ike Irish, C/1B/RF, Auburn ~ returned Friday night after a slight fracture to his scapula.

Gavin Kilen, 3B/2B, Tennessee ~ still out of the lineup with a lower body injury suffered on Tuesday

I don’t care who they draft at #5, as long as it’s a power hitting college outfielder.

Pick the best player available, especially with a number 5 pick.

to give you an idea where current (March or February) draft boards stand, here's Prospects Live midseason College draft board. Top 10 was free to the public. The rest is behind a paywall.

1. Jamie Arnold, LHP (Florida State)
2. Aiva Arquette, SS (Oregon State)
3. Devin Taylor, OF (Indiana)
4. Tyler Bremner, RHP (UC Santa Barbara)
5. Brendan Summerhill, OF (Arizona)
6. Jace LaViolette, OF (Texas A&M)
7. Dean Curley, INF (Tennessee)
8. Nicholas Dumesnil, OF (California Baptist)
9. Luke Stevenson, C (North Carolina)
10. Marek Houston, SS (Wake Forest)

------

Summerhill's power was supposed to come in this Spring....to hopefully surpass his 8 HR total from last season. He only has 2 HR on the year, but his contact rate has gone through the roof. Batting .414, 1.172 OPS, 152 wRC+

LaViolette has been a major disappointment on an extremely weak A&M team. Swing and Miss are still an issue, contact issues are new, and his Power Drain is very concerning. He's on his way out of Top 10 mocks once you throw in the HS kids.

Dumsnil had a jaw dropping Sophomore season, coming from nowhere....19 HR, 168 wRC+....only 4 HR, and his K % has shot through the roof this season. 2024 might've been in a outlier in B rated league.... the WAC is a very different league than it was 25 years ago.

Devin Taylor is the only consistent power bat. He's on his way (baring injury/slump) to another 20 HR season for IU. He's a Corner OF that profiles to DH/1B in the majors. He'd have to hit the dickens off the ball in the majors to stay in LF/RF...he's not a fielder

------

if you want a Power Hitter in college.... SS/3B might be your better option. That seems to be a crowded field. While OF is rather thin....And I think Taylor is the only one with an outside chance of cracking the Top 10. The Angels like their advanced 1 Tool / College power bats, they would be dumb enough to reach on Taylor at #2.

Taylor's teammate at IU, Korbyn Dickerson is a having a tremendous season so far...his first healthy season...ever...knock on wood for him. He crushed the ball the Northwoods Summer League last year, 9 HR in 55 games with a wooden bat...while it's not he Cape Cod league, it's still a college/highschool summer league that many of recent draftees have attended, Wetherholt and Condon are the most recent

here's his BR page...up-to-date

David Shaw, UC Berkley, gets the start on Sunday vs. Stanford.

The big lefty about to toe the rubber in the bottom of the 1st.

Glad he finally gets his crack at the rotation!!!

Best of Luck, Shaw!!

Clean 1st inning, 3 up, 3 down. Bit of trouble in the 2nd inning. Pulled after 1 1/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 0 K. Not too shabby. Something to build on.

this is the best up-to-date mock draft we've seen all season, especially with the college prospects. It has all the fast risers, all the decliners. And the picks seem to make sense for each team....or he at least tries to make it make sense, I'm sure fans can find a flaw with at least a few picks.

Good Read, enjoy.

my only knock is the Highschool side of the prospects could better...I guess he set the College Bar so high, that that might be the problem :D
