Been saying this for months
But the clown in the dugout doesn't have the smarts to see it.
When asked about Libby going to AAA, Oli replied:
"No chance,” Marmol said. “I have not thought of it once.”
You have not thought of it once?
Proving he's an idiot if it never even crossed his mind.
He's got a 5.26 ERA/1.56 WHiP!
He's throwing BP
I don’t think he would be effective bull pen. Even when on track it takes him too many pitches to get on track. IMO not a bull pen guy.
Not surprised by Oli’s response. He’s not going to discuss that with media.
But overall I think Libby has to go. Could we trade him for something?
I also don’t have that much confidence in Dobbins but he will have to do. Matthew’s needs to come up.
theres a long histiry of guys who struggke in the first inning as dtarters who are instead effective in the bullpen. so taking awhile to get on track in a start isnt compatible with how well you are in bullpen. histkry has shown that yet people still make this argument.
as a reliever you potentially pitch more often but less in a day. less lobg waits make it so that you are less likely to lose muscke memory of mechanics inbetween outings. also, you can throw with full force instead of tryi g to pace yourself.
he may not be as effective as he was in the pen before but this argument doesnt sway my opinion at all. he also can start with just mopup.

I took Oli's comments as a manager supporting his player. Whether Libby's next outing is in St. Louis, Memphis, or the California Penal League, it's Bloom's call, not Oli's. So there isn't much substance to Oli's remark aside from showing a player he has his back.
It's not an apples-to-apples comparison, because for the Dodgers it's World Series or bust, but a week or so ago, Dave Roberts had some pointed words about Emmet Sheehan (who's objectively having a "better" season than Liberatore). When asked if Sheehan would make his next start, Roberts said "Until there's another alternative, we'll keep running him out there." Not exactly music to a young pitcher's ears.

All you point out sounds valid. Always can try it and see.

IH believes he is a MLB catcher. Lib evidently does not like BP. Package them together for ??????? Then the team does not have to waste time, money, et al on an obvious decision which is good for the TEAM. Send them to Angels.
Cards waste too much time on "projects" and still end up in the same starting position of having players dictate outcomes that do not benefit the team. Gorman is another example.

He needs to be offloaded. He's not going to cut it as a starter, and he's not going to be a happy camper in the bullpen.
I think he needs to be traded, and it would likely be better for him and the Cardinals. No matter how bad the return they get for him is, I cannot see him improving if he stays in St. Louis. There is a good chance that there is a pitching coach in a different org. that can help him overcome his problems. The way he can dominate for a few innings and then suddenly lose it, shows that he has the stuff to succeed, but once he gets into trouble, it escalates into a disaster. Seems to me that his issues are mental, not physical.
I do not think he is mentally suited for relief pitching, at least not at the present time.
