How would it look if McGreevy and Pallante were our 4 and 5 guys instead of our 1 and two guys.

Agree on Lin being bullpen bound. If that is the case, he could make St Louis next year. If he remains a starter look for him in 2028.

They need a real promotion/usage plan so that these guys don't stall out at any level just because there is no room to move them up. This starts by creating churn at the top (MLB). They need to trade May and one other pitcher (Leahy or Liberatore get my vote) to create two rotation openings. This will allow Mathews, Mautz, Dobbins, Fitts, Hjerpe, and Roby to contend for open spots next spring. The second way to create openings is to move some pitchers to the bullpen. Lin, Pete Hansen, maybe Hjerpe, and Ty Van Dyke would be candidates for that. The third way to create openings is to move 1 or 2 in trades. Gotta be careful there. In some way, they need to be able to promote 2-3 pitchers who are doing well at every level. Doesn't happen right if the whole thing is backed up.

I wouldn't trade Leahy to open a spot for the pitchers you mentioned.

The Cardinals have years of control over him and he may very well wind up being the diamond in the rough.

I would deal Libby and May (of which he is a foregone conclusion) before Leahy or Pallante.

I'm had this feeling for the past month Leahy may wind up being a lot better than people thought.

You might be a little full of chit. He has some of the best stuff of any pitcher on Cardinals staff. He's older but that comes with being a college draft. Yeah, he was hurt; comes with the territory of pitching. If he's traded we may finally get to see him pitch extraordinarily well for some other team. His K/BB ratio is roughly 3:1 since 2024. I wouldn't trade him under any circumstances.
