JMO but O’Brien has to trust his pitches more. He has elite stuff and there’s no need to nibble out there on the mound. When he had Cruz 0-2 he has to put him away and the 4 consecutive pitches in the dirt obviously weren’t competitive enough. Cruz will chase a lot but he spit on every one of them.
The HBP to Griffin was ridiculous. Even Griffin knew he wasn’t hit. He walked to first but never discarded his bat, never flexed his hand but O’Brien needs to trust his stuff more and make more competitive pitches. The 55 ft breaking ball that glanced off of the hitters leg for the other baserunner ( I believe it was Lowe) has to be executed better.
His fastball was touching 101 last night. His breaking ball was sharp. Quit trying to trick hitters and let that stuff eat.
O'Brien Has Been Compromised
