He gives up a single and then gets a flyout for 2nd out in 4th -- and they take him out. Another successful start.

Good night, folks. I just wanted to watch the four SPs.

Good start for Doyle. 5 IP 2 runs 5 hits 0 walks 8 K

Walks number is impressive. With his stuff if he can throw strikes he will be very good.

Bummer - gives up a soft single over 2b. 2 runs.
They're leaving him in - and runner is out stealing. 5 IP - big success.
Sweet it can’t be easy going from college to AA that’s why I’m not worried about growing pains particularly when he’s developing his secondary pitches
Read where Bloom purposely started Doyle in AA as he felt Doyle would face tougher situations challenging him .
He found out early that his secondaries were key mixed in with his big fastball. At high A Peoria , he could have relied on fastballs too much.
Seems to have accepted the early bumps and is progressing nicely.

Ryan Mitchell with 2 HR's. Really like his potential. I like him more as a CF than a SS

Many of those were on off-speed pitches, which was very encouraging. His fastball is MLB ready.

I agree. He was definitely working on the breaking and off-speed stuff. I thought it was a curve, but this is an excerpt from an article in The Athletic that discusses his new arsenal that indicates it was likely a slow sweeper:

"He still has the tumbling splitter up to 90 mph, and the Cardinals have worked with him to expand his breaking ball arsenal — he had a slider in college that scouts didn’t love, so he’s added a very promising cutter that’s up to 89 and a slower sweeper that has some curveball shape to it."
