It used to be they only gave players unnecessary, premature extensions. They could have just let this season play out and decided after.

I guess you have to believe that the correct FO, Manager, and Players produce a winning team. Can’t say that Mo was bad and everything is better now that “good” bloom here…..and then turnaround and say it doesn’t matter what kind of manager in place. If you want to WIN

Could very well be true!
My opinion:
*Based SOLELY on watching the games and seeing him handle moves in the media I rate him below average.
*I can NOT however rate him based on his interactions in the dugout/clubhouse or on the practice field.

If like you said they honestly can’t find anyone better then you stick with him until someone better comes along.
Don’t make a move solely to say you made a move!
It’s the “timing” that has me confused.
I would NOT have extended him now. He’s not going anywhere so why not see how this season plays out?
Or....at least through the trade deadline?

I was dead wrong, thought for sure Oli would get a one year extension, then C. Bloom would be allowed to hire HIS own Manager after the new CBA was in place and Dewitt would raise the payroll back to acceptable levels.

Seems like old Bill's new business plan is to keep the payroll as low as possible, for as many years as he can and a clown like Oli is the type of Manager who will smile and say "Yes Sir".

Just sell the team you cheap a z z Dewitt.

Doubtful. The Cardinals are an iconic franchise. A new manager would have been given plenty of slack in a rebuild so it wouldn't have been overly stressful. And there are only a handful of managerial openings each winter.

If no other good manager is interested either now or in another year, that should tell us fans something about the projected success rate of this rebuild.

I is probably at the bottom of salaries for MLB managers.

I know many want to cling to the "iconic, legendary, historic" days.....but respectfully those days are gone....

at this point it's a poorly run organization in a small market

baseball is a small fraternity....every organizational flaw that is discussed daily on this board is well known in that community

they may not be lining up to go to stl

as I said....it's just a possibility....
