Amen. I could not believe that some were complaining about the batting order, for a freaking exhibition game!

Anyone who knows just a tad bit about baseball knows that the guys they want guaranteed ABs are going to be higher up in the lineup. This place has turned in to an instant nut house, after one ST exhibition game!

Yep like Winn if I want to get him a guaranteed 2 or 3 at bats But don’t want him playing a full 8 or 9 innings because I’m easing him back into play after surgery I’m batting him lead off you will get him the at bats you need him to get faster and pull him earlier. It has nothing to do with if oli thinks he’s the leadoff man of next season or not

For the 3 total hits per game , well x 162 games that would equal 486 total hits for the year
Last year, the Cardinals had 1,331 hits and ranked 20 ...... the worst team hits Guardians hasd 1,199
Would the 2026 Cardinals have over 700 less hits than last year's worst team in baseball .. .LOL

That is just one team stat from today projected for 162 games . If you think this team is going to averge 2 runs per game for the season, you have not been following MLB ! Last year the Cardinals scored 689 runs 19th in MLB based on today's 2 runs that would project to 324 runs for the 2026 season .. so LESS THAN HALF of last year

Some people are getting a bit carried away thinking today's game will be typical for 2026 .

If they win Sunday, it’s only spring trading.
What amazes me is how many people want to see them fail.

I realize it’s the 1st ST game. BUT, last ST the regulars didn’t hit in ST AND they didn’t hit in the regular season. AND if this is a make it or break it season for Gorman and Walker, etc, why not give them the max possible at bats in ST?

No one relieves max at bats as possible in spring training it’s a build up

Well, they played guys I have never heard of. That is the goal of ST.

The people “ not “ complaining about the lineup are forgetting that it is Marmol making out these lineups! That has been one of the main issues against his management style. He doesn’t know how to properly construct a lineup to best utilize a players talent.
For example, batting Burleson in the #2 hole. Is there anyone here that believes that best suits his talents and athletic abilities? Spring training game or not Burly should never bat second. Let’s not pretend that Marmol hasn’t hit him here in past seasons either! Burly is too much of a free swinger, and is too slow of a base runner, which could clog up the base paths for speedier runners hitting behind him. Burly should be put in a “ run producing “ position, and not a run scoring position. Marmol doesn’t seem to understand this simple concept! I, for one, was hoping he would get smarter as the years go by, or that with Mo gone, maybe the lineup arrangements would be more logical, but putting Burly there again causes me to doubt anything will change at all! Spring training game or not!

Not freaking out about the lineup, but simply pointing out how Oli doesn't know how to construct a proper lineup, regardless of it is Spring Training or a game in July. It's symptomatic if him and he doesn't get it.
