Well we have a had another middling bull[shirt] reliever to the 40 dont you know?
As opposed to a middling position player
Who has a chance to make a bigger impact the coming years over Chris f'in Roycroft or Matt Pushard
None of the above not roycroft not pushard not Kent and not
Ramos so I would say none of the above. Although the pitchers will see more major league time than Ramos will
That's debatable.
Also, just because we roll out a Roycroft or Kent doesn't mean they are worthy of MLB time.
I didn’t say they were but those relievers will be on the cycle to the minors and majors that teams do with relievers do. Ramos got 12 big at bats last season and the orioles obviously weren’t planning on giving him any time because they tried to sneak him through waivers. I’m not a fan of those pitchers but Ramos sucks also and people act like he’s a big loss

+1
I too was also intrigued, not saying he's the next Rolen but a 23/24 yr old 3B with flashes of power has a chance to be much more impactful that some warm body relievers pushing 30.
Not sure what Ozzie is on about.

No one said he was a big loss but you, and no thinks Ramos doesn't suck right now, but at his age, position and power potential, you try to keep that in your system to see if the new regime can make something click

I'm quite sure the Cardinals were hoping he'd clear waivers, but didn't.

This report says it was a trade.

I don't see any mention of what the Cardinals received in return. Could Mountcastle be possible? Or Vance Honeycutt, possibly. Probably cash considerations.

Yeah, thats unfortunate. I wouldn't have even tried him, I would've personally put Roycroft on there. Dime a dozen reliever, just a big body.
Also not like Gorman has 3B on absolute lock either, sure there are guys who can man 3rd but Jesus Baez looks like the next legit prospect there and he is 2-3 years away

Well the new regime thought it was worth a gamble on potentially losing him. I would have preferred him over Roycroft but it’s one meh player who sucks for another player meh who sucks and a reliever who has very good stuff but sucks has a better chance of clicking and having a good year than a position player who sucks clicking and having a good year. But just my opinion

If Ramos was like 29 years old I might agree, but he is young enough to be considered a prospect still. I'm not keen on giving up free prospects, especially ones that have flashed RH power potential at a position of need. And yes I know he sucks right now, he must've cursed someone out on arrival lol

The Bryan Ramos billiard ball caroms again. He's been purchased once and waived twice this off season.
The Cardianals reacquire Zack Kent who has been waived 3 times this off season .
If they were deeply interested in keeping Ramos, they would have put one of their injured AAA pitchers on the 60 day IL and cleared a 40-man spot.
So they viewed Ramos as a JAG longshot to contribute. Zack Kent beware as last man on the roster.
