I don't think we see Doyle until 2027.
Rock, I think they are talking about 2027 rotation. What do you envision that looking like a year from now?
My bad, thx for the heads up C4L!
Okay re-do:
Doyle
Libby
McG
Dobbins or Fitts or Leahy or "Q" battle it out for the last two spots.
That's what I think happens, best case scenario, of course. Though, if there's rhyme or reason to the particular order, I'm not sure I agree with it. I think:
Libby
McGreevy
Doyle
Dobbins
Leahy/Mathews
But, you know, po-tay-to, poh-tah-toh.
Hopefully those guys hit well enough (and we still have good talent coming up like Fajardo, Franklin, Cintje, etc) to make some of these guys expendable for a big bat or other pieces we might need.
For sure SJ
And you listed the next possible wave we should see sometime in 2028.
I'll also add T. Roby and B. Clarke both when healthy (but Clarke may end up being a huge pen's arm instead of a starter).
And of course I've been screaming now for a third season they convert T. Hence and prep him for the closers role!
Absolutely on Hence. At this point, I have to question why they haven't. He could probably be a factor this year if they just made that switch. He just doesn't have the body to be a starter. I look at Hence, and I look at Cintje, and I think Jurrangelo has a starter's frame if not for height. He's not a beanpole. Hence is just all skin and bones.

Makes no sense whatsoever.
The kid hasn't been able to handle a starters load w/o getting hurt yet he posses an upper 90's heater and a wicked change-up I've been comping to D. Williams for years!
Let's hope the new regime see's this and make the conversion, sadly after Hence goes down again.

What about Cijntje for 2027 ?
Don’t see him mentioned.
Not to start right out if 2027 ST camp but brought up later in 2027 joining rotation after a year and half in minors.

The post was for 2027 because they will have 14 SP rule 5 eligible and cannot protect them al because of this off season. What is the plan?

Except 14 of the pitchers in system are rule 5 eligible after this upcoming season. Cant add them all to 40 man

Because of the 40 man problem with 14 SP needing protection he will be later.

Easy to say bye-bye to more than half of them.

Don't forget a healthy Roby as a possibility. He has enormous potential. I just read that Roby has top of the rotation talent.

I think, it should be an open competition in camp with only Libertore and Mcgreevy guaranteed a spot. Would like it to shake out like this:
1 Libby
2 Mcgreevy
3 May
4 Leahy
5 Dobbins
I think the OP was asking about next year, 2027. Is that what you envision in 2027?
Oh, I see. Well, I would imagine at least 3-4 of those guys would still be in it. I would love for May to show what he used to have, but I won't hold my breath. Maybe...
1 Libertore
2 Doyle
3 Mcgreevy
4 Leahy
5 Dobbins
6 Matthews
They need to bring an ace in and the rotation would actually be good, but I would guess they will wait one more year and let these young guys play out and see what they need. 2028 is the earliest I see the ownership going in on a competitve team- if they haven't just made the decision to turn the franchise into a low spending, Rays type of structure. Also, we will see if we even have baseball next season.

14 sounds bigger than it will turn out being.
There will be a some of the current that will be moved. May, Stanek, Pallante, Jo Jo, Roycroft, Raquet, Pushard, etc. There will be at least a few new injuries and a couple the linger on from this season.

Most teams have 20 total pitchers on 40 man, that includes RP. May and a couple RP will be gone but that won’t open enough spots to protect everyone. As they kept adding pitching this off season It moved internal players down the list. Most of them were in 4th year of control like Hjerpe Roby Dobbins Fitts Robersee Hence etc will need to be added or rule 5 eligible. It’s a numbers crunch and hard to understand why they kept adding pitchers that were nearing rule 5
