The answer is somewhere in the middle. Matthew is the real deal, but yeah, Brady is overrated.

I don't think either is a bad player. Both are significant players in the league. They get touted as superstars precisely because of the family influence, when I just don't see that especially with Brady. Matthew had a couple of really incredible 100 point seasons that I didn't see coming. Barkov is the man there in Florida though and always was. Have always hated dirty players like those two. Especially Matthew and his turtling [nonsense]. If you're going to play over the line, don't be a turtle.

Pierre McGuire wrote: 12 Feb 2026 16:51 pm Brady is exactly the player he was expected to be, he’s actually exceeded expectations statistically. He’s a solid player, nothing about him is overrated, unless you just hate the way he plays the game or that his last name is Tkachuk.

They are 2 really good hockey players....one of them with multiple Cups and to his credit as well.

But there is a STL myth surrounding them that has lend itself to many posters, not all but enough, going overboard on them.

All the trade proposals I have seen to land either are highly questionable or pathetically too low. The Blues would need an extremely strong cast of REMAINING players to have such realistic trade proposals make sense.

I guess put me in the "ain't happening" category for one side or the other but man the ink they get here if not over rated is definitely over something.

I don't know if it's necessarily them that i'd have to have to go overboard but...

I am of the opinion that at some point when you've rebuilt the overall depth of the farm, it's probably close to time to start bringing in players in package deals that start to put that team over the top. Trade from a position of a lot of depth, and get something that maybe looks overpriced, but translate a wealth of depth into a higher ceiling of talent.

Will take the right situation to happen, but the deals do happen here and there.

Brady has 2 years left on his contract - Matthew 4.

Easy to see we could sign Brady as UFA, and as we are ascending, FLA will be falling apart, and perhaps we could acquire Matthew.

What's funny to me is that much of my opinion about players outside of the Blues comes from opinions on this board - when both players were still very young I was given the impression that Brady was the more talented and better player. Now the opinions seem to have shifted. Perhaps that was not a consensus but just one or few posters. I know one in particular said Matthew wasn't good in Calgary.

I think it's time to que up Miracle for watching over the weekend. Think the wife would enjoy a hockey movie on Valentine's Day?

Not sure I’d want either at that point as current and prior teams will be getting their best years. I’d also bet that the way they play, their bodies will break down and have disappointing endings to their careers.

And my guess is that Brady will be more likely to sign in Florida than in STL. Matthew obviously chose Florida over STL. I would imagine Brady will also want a house on the beach as well.

Women’s team is just dominating.
After 4 games, 1 goal scored against.
They scored as many goals (6) as Italy had shots today. It’s not even competitive at this point.

To clarify, it is actually a total of 5 games with 26 goals for and 1 goal against TOTAL.

The US women are unbelievably good this year.

Brady will be 28 for the entire season before he hits UFA. Still in his prime, even if he won’t be young by NHL standards anymore. The Blues could trade for him in 2027’s offseason (if OTT misses then maybe this one) or at the deadline if OTT is out of the race since I really don’t see him resigning there.

He’s exactly the type of player the Blues badly lack. Won’t cost as much in terms of cap % since he’s approaching 30 as well.

That point shot that beat Swayman deflected off the defender out high. Still, he probably should have stopped that.
