You're starting to see them give Mailloux a taste of some of that toward the ends of a few of these recent games including a bit of power play, and he is doing okay. He was not out there for any of the standard last minute breakdowns.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 10:10 amif faulk is traded, mailloux def becomes the 2nd pair rhd. he's playing much better and would do him a world of good to get away from fowlerTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2026 20:24 pmWell, it's that or Rosen, Tucker or Kessel!!stlblue06 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2026 20:20 pmMailloux in the top 4?! The Blues would get investigated for a blatant tank hurting the integrity of the leagueTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2026 17:39 pm Don't really care who they bring up if they are able to trade Faulk for a very good return. It's 20-25 games. To your question though, I doubt it's Lindstein. My gut tells me they would bring up either Calle Rosen or Hunter Skinner to finish the season. Assemble/rotate some pairs the best they can to not leave guys hanging in the wind. For example:
Fowler - Parayko
Broberg - Mailloux
Rosen/Tucker - Kessel/Tucker (of the bottom guys, Tucker plays his off-side the best)
If they want to be safer, then:
Rosen/Tucker - Parayko
Broberg - Mailloux
Fowler - Kessel/TuckerI'll go with the Broberg/Mailloux pairing and just keep losing.

Re: After Faulk is traded
In fact the idea of going into the season with Tucker/Mailloux on the 3rd pair was a big head scratcher to me. Two inexperienced guys one really really green. All of the sudden those two cant stop the puck from going in Mailloux's confidence is shattered right away and Monty is forced to shift pairings around. This line up needs to have solid zone exits quick ups to the forwards so they can rush and score. 14 minutes or so a game they are scrambling in their own end helping Mailloux, Tucker, Fowler. It really got the season off to a shaky start.
If im the Blues looking into this season, i know i dont want to extend Bolduc i have these other kids at forward i like Mailloux in Montreal but everyone knows he needs some work. I would not count on Tucker to be his partner. IF i want to groom Mailloux i would go look into a big, vet, cheap LHD i that can play in front of the goalie. That would allow Mailloux to relax his mistakes may not immidietely end up in the net. Fowler can play with Faulk or Parayko then as it was intended.
Really strange move unless the Blues brass knew this season was still a retooling of the roster although that doesnt jive with the "improve by 5 points" thought
