Not sure if anyone mentioned that he's out of options so if he doesn't make the 26-man, the Cards will have to try to sneak him through waivers to keep him.
That's what Baltimore was trying to do when the Cards grabbed him.
Also, Ramos dealt with a right elbow strain early in 2025 and a left quad strain in 2024. Maybe that helps explain why he failed to progress?

Bryan Ramos had a 10.1 BTV value in Nov 2024 before having a disappointing 2025 season mostly in AAA.

23 years old, .757 OPS over 6 minor league seasons. Seems to have some upside. The more guys like this you collect the more likely some of them hit. No objections here.
He hit .216 with a .309 OBP and a perfectly pedestrian .705 OPS in AAA last year. Upside...
He should fit right in.
Like another poster pointed out, and same as Nelson both players are ZERO risk, nothing but upside. If they fail, they fail. If they play halfway decent youre right they fit in perfectly with the rebuild. Also could let Gorman know that they're looking at options.
Are there really that many folks on CT that don’t know how building a baseball team involves so much more than significant 26-man roster moves? Do they really not understand that all 30 teams have a barn full of these signings? Every once in a while, one of these hits.
If you’re referring to me I understand far better than you.

I'm guessing that might have been higher than Nolan Gorman's around the same time.

That’s unfortunate. I find baseball to be a much more interesting sport if I pay attention to its many facets and not just the MLB roster and MLB payroll.

I knew nothing about the guy, so, I turned to the trusty YouTube. Of course, thats only going to show positive highlights, but of those highlights available he showed the ability to flash the leather at 3B. Of course, I dont know what the big picture is, but the plays they showed were elite 3B defensive plays.

So true.
I kind of shrugged at the signing at first. After digging a little deeper, I can see why they might give it a try. If they have a high degree of confidence in their development system to identify and correct flaws they could do very well with guys like this. There is at least something to work with.

I guess stranger things have happened.

It is my understanding the Ramos is out if options. And will need to be on the Cardinals team or be subject to being exposed to the waiver list. Could he be a RH hitting infielder as a reserve on the '26 team? Is there room for him?

Possibly. Maybe they play him in the Of a little during ST.

Maybe both Ramos and Saggese get some work in the outfield in ST.

Maybe he proves to be a decent bench player. Can't be worse than Motter or Vilade can he?

Ramos is a defense-first 3B. If he can OPS .700, he's a plus player. But can he? We shall see.

Acquiring Ramos seems like a good gamble, but if he gets sent down he will need to go through waivers and the Cards could lose him . Please correct me if I'm wrong. Can he play multiple positions including the OF?
