You don't have to be vocal to be a leader type. You of all people should know that being in the military.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 06:58 amI thought he was the silent type, not a robust leader type.OldRed wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 06:56 amThis rebuild is totally garbage. I think he does a great job of leading by example. If that’s the requirement by all means.OldRed wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:07 amYou don't have to be vocal to be a leader type. According to the U.S. Army, leadership is defined as the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization.

Leading by example is indeed a leadership trait. As is enforcing the standard. As is seek responsibility and take responsibility for your actions.OldRed wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:12 amIsn't that what leadership is? I think there are 12 of them in the military world.

Molina was a perfect example of leadership. He also was a quiet guy in the dugout.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:16 amLeading by example is indeed a leadership trait. I think Molina was much more vocal. If you want a leadership comparison to goldy, try arenado. Same boat.OldRed wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:18 amMolina was a perfect example of leadership. I don't agree. But it really doesn't matter. One player can make it all about me and another doesn't and they don't have to say a word. Many managers in the past had the same personality at Goldschmidt. Gil Hodges is an example.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:20 amI think Molina was much more vocal. Same boat reference type of quiet personality. Let’s the bat and play do the talking. Not a knock.OldRed wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:27 amI don't agree. But it really doesn't matter. Re: Goldschmidt
Question: who on this team is a leader?
Who is the guy on this team to tell the young players you have had enough to drink, we have a game tomorrow.

You could say that for any free agent signing. How do we know what other teams were interested in Goldschmidt?RamFan08NY wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 07:38 amHorrible analogy. Apparently he wasnt good enough for 98% of the league?

Re: Goldschmidt
I guess it all depends on who all is out drinking together. Any one of them could say that. One thing I do think, Goldy would not be out drinking with them, so it probably wouldn't be him.
