I understand that might be cleared up shortly....but darn, that's incredible.
Centerpiece becomes the Picks and Cijntje if that's true.
Passan and Trade Rumors are reporting it as such
--------------
from MLBtraderumors:
The Mariners send infielder Ben Williamson to the Rays, as well as prospects Jurrangelo Cijntje and Tai Peete and a competitive balance round B pick (#68 overall) to the Cardinals, receiving infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan from the Cardinals.
The Cardinals send infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan to the Mariners, getting prospects Jurrangelo Cijntje and Tai Peete plus a competitive balance round B pick (#68 overall) from the Mariners, as well as receiving outfield prospect Colton Ledbetter and a competitive balance round B pick (#72 overall) from the Rays.
The Rays send outfield prospect Colton Ledbetter and a competitive balance round B pick (#72 overall) to the Cardinals, receiving infielder Ben Williamson from the Mariners. Tampa will need to make a 40-man move to open a spot for Williamson when the deal is made official.

Derrick Goold's article on the trade did not mention #68.
Hopefully he just hasn't updated his article yet.

I think we're in the clear. DG would know for sure, he gets his info directly from the Org's/Horse's mouth![]()

They seem to be:
A) Bringing in some prospects with upside.
And
B) Acquiring well positioned draft picks.
So far....their drafting(last two years) holds a lot of promise.
Will that continue and can they now DEVELOP???

So 2 picks rather than one, each of whom has a 3 or 4% chance of becoming a starting MLB player, makes this a good deal?ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:14 pm Read where Cardinals get Competitive Balance pick (round B ) seattl'es first pick after 2nd round ... the 70th pick in 2026
in this deal .
Seems nobody mentioning that yet that is a nice draft choice for this rebuild and should be considered in the return Bloom received in this deal.
The Cardinals get 20 picks per year already.....

Agreed. I hate to see BD go, but this was a pretty good result for what they are attempting to do. You accumulate enough picks and prospects, the odds of hitting on a couple of them increase dramatically. At least we hope.ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:42 pmSaw that on a posted chart on CT .. according to further posts here , the Cardinals received TWO picks Seattle's 68th and Tampa's 72nd Wow !zuck698 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:17 pmWhere are you seeing this 70th pick from Seattle? Everything I have seen so far says pick 72 from Tampa? Not saying you are wrong, but curious which pick it is.ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:14 pm Read where Cardinals get Competitive Balance pick (round B ) seattl'es first pick after 2nd round ... the 70th pick in 2026

Getting better by the half hour
This is what MLB.com latest reporting
Cardinals acquire: RHP Jurrangelo Cijntje (SEA No. 7 prospect / MLB No. 90), OF Tai Peete (SEA No. 11 prospect), OF Colton Ledbetter (TB No. 24 prospect), Competitive Balance Round B picks (No. 68 overall, from SEA; No. 72 overall, from TB)
In some circles , two picks (7th & 11th ) in Seattle's system , plus two picks next year (68th & 72nd ) , plus a Rays 24th prospect would be considered a significant return for Brandon Donovan.

Re: I like the added high draft pick that is overlooked
the only thing that will mess with the numbers on the picks is : Zac Gallen signing....if he signs for more than $50million, the DBacks will get 29th pick moving our picks back 1 after our 13th pick....33rd, 51st, 69th, 73rd and 87th
Or ~ If he signs for under $50million, the DBacks get the 75th pick....which moves only 1 of those picks to 87th from 86th
