I'm sure SLU would need a major benefactor to ever consider getting back into D1 hockey.

Agreed! I imagine hockey is the second most costly college sport behind football. However, it is probably as good of a revenue producer as basketball. I also suspect that Title IX may impact it if that is still around. Can you imagine Boston College, Michigan, Minnesota or Notre Dame coming to the Chaifitz to play on Friday nights? A lot of SLU's students come from the east coast and are big into hockey.
