Re: Could the Binnington Era End Soon?

I live in NW Indiana and am in a Blues blackout area so I honestly don’t see them play much and cannot comment on the eye test as much as what I see in the box scores. Looking at his career it has a measure of some consistency for GAA and SV % aside from one outlier year when he was a bit below the norms. But this year is such an aberration that it makes me wonder if something else is going on. He didn’t just forget how to stop a puck did he. I hope that’s all there is and he can bounce back otherwise I hope he’s not having problems off the ice like health of a family member, personal temptations or distractions that do affect some. Though it might explain this year I certainly hope it’s just a bad year and he can bounce back to what he’s capable of.

No he doesnt. Binnington has been terrible for Team Canada for years outside of one game.

The league knows who he is. He won a cup with the best defensive team in the world. Lots of average guys do that
OK, so what happens to those average guys when they have a team like this Blues team in front of them? Lots of average guys then look REALLY bad.

I am so grateful to Binner, Schenn, ROR, Vladi, Sunny for bringing St. Louis a Cup. They gave us a great gift and enriched themselves, which is how it's supposed to work. I wish they were all five years younger. You have to be a good asset manager and turn the page. Binner caught fire last year and the Four Nations and then the Blues caught fire. Going into this season, I thought we'd pick up where we left off. It didn't work. I don't fault Army, the organization, or the players. It's time to make the change. Binner is closer to Cam Ward than Marty Brodeur.

This clown now hates JB because he made a complete fool of him in his 4 nations prediction.

Not quite the " For the greater good of the board" level....nothing will ever top the idiocy of that.....but (bleep) close.

Assuming he starts for Canada and plays well, it feels like Binnington will be traded after seeing how well Hofer is playing and another miracle+ run is needed to save the season. If he struggles or doesn’t play in the Olympics then we are stuck with him.

If the Blues go into next season with Binnington then he has to be their backup as he has simply sucked every single season since 2019-2020 (Covid broke him).

** I’ll give him those 2 month hot streaks the past 2 seasons.

Want to know a crazy stat:
The Hawks have scored only 13 non empty net goals (-2 SO win “goals”) in the 9 games played after they scored SEVEN (7) goals against Binnington. That’s a little over 1 goal a game after scoring 7 all with Binnington in net and all were stoppable, most were very soft. They were also in a free fall leading up to that game while the Blues were 3 points out of a WC spot. Just embarrassing stuff.
Absolutely false saying he hasn't been good since 19-20. I don't disagree about him being the backup if he returns, but your comment was false. 16.6 GSAA in 23-24.

Cooper starting Binnington made people look like fools? You actually think this?

Your post on physics is what made you look like a fool.

It’s a good time to bump this thread.

Binner just gave up a last minute goal in a tied game in back to back games against the EXACT SAME TEAM!!! Just 3-4 days ago.

Dallas must have been so happy when they saw Binnington was starting. Unfortunately for Blues fans he ruined what could have been a historical comeback with the arena buzzing for a rare time this season. It’s been years since they have come back from a 3 goal deficit in the 3rd period to win.

Sad stuff. And for those defending that final goal are clueless. That was a FLOATER from the blue line with zero screen. He had all day to adjust bat that thing like a fly as most NHL goalies would do.

statistically, by advance metrics. binnington was one of the best goalies in the league during the 2023-2024 season and was also very solid last year.
the 2022-2023 season is really only the bad year he had besides this one. so no he hasnt sucked every year since covid.

he is quite brutal this year. i think its already evident binnington isnt the future and theborg knows that andbhe wont be resigned. i have no idea why you think playing for team canada would drastically alter everyones perception of him like that will erase this season in regards to his trade value.

i think they want hofer to emerge as the guy. im not sure why they are going 50-50 insteadnof making hofer clear guy this year to see if he can handke it. maybe they think its better for hofers development to build up number of starts per year slowly.

but next year is binnys last and hofer is at least 1a next season

Except what you are omitting is that all teams that when the cup are exceptional defensively. Not all average guys show up and win that game 7 on the road in Boston(as js Giguere or Kirk Maclean why the dont have rings) or win ot final of the 4 Nations (ask connor helleybuck ) Even sucking Mackinnon and McDavid want him on their team in the playoffs.

I really am curious...what Accredited university-level Degree in Physics do you have?
And which of those studies peaked your interest the most...Thermal, Mechanics, Waves, Optics, Electromagnetism, Quantum, Astro, etc.?
