Cards signed Nelson Velasquez to minors league deal. Good signing for minors.
Better not be Bloom's RH hitting outfield bat which he recently referenced as wanting to add.
You could be on to something Mel. As I said, I don’t know anything about him, but
if he’s cheap he's an option.
that's all DeWitt cares about;
Uhhh...he better be? That's pretty much the point of it.

It's a good signing. Our ML outfield isn't the only thing that is a mess. Short of Joshua Baez, the minor league OF is destitute of prospects. I would be glad to have him at Memphis and if the need arises, would much rather call him up and give him a look as opposed to signing a Ryan Vilade or Garrett Hampson. Maybe he wouldn't work out, but his ceiling is definitely higher than the things the Cardinals have been trying. Is he going to "make" the rebuild? No. Could he be solid? It's possible.

Very good signing. Zero risk, nothing but reward can come from this one.

He’s certainly an improvement over Hampson and Siani. Things are looking up.

Nelson Velazquez just might be the mirror image of Nolan Gorman. They are remarkably similar.
MLB stats (Gorman has 2.57 times as many plate appearances so I scaled his number back to Velazquez's plate appearances for rate comparisons)
Velazquez vs Gorman
PA 615 vs 615 (1581 PA / 2.57)
AB 552 vs 547 (1405 AB / 2.57)
R 86 vs 75 (193 / 2.57)
2B 21 vs 23 (59 / 2.57)
3B 4 vs 0 (1 / 2.57)
HR 31 vs 29 (74 / 2.57)
RBI 87 vs 81 (207 / 2.57)
SB 7 vs 6 (15 / 2.57)
CS 2 vs 2 (4 / 2.57)
BB 52 vs 63 (162 / 2.57)
SO 177 vs 209 (538 / 2.57)
TB 239 vs 229 (589 / 2.57)
.212 .286 .433 .719 vs .218 .300 .419 .719

If Walker (and Gorman) are on the team, then they should play ever day. There is no reason to keep them on as part-time players. Either get rid of them or start them if the franchise still believes they can reach their potential. There should be no threat to Walker. What's the point? A single RH bat in the OF does little to move the needle.

He gets another chance with an open opportunity.
He's probable AAA though unless injuries take over.
His 2025 had upside across 5 teams, of course that's not MLB,
were good. 282 TB in 626 PA's
