As in the end, it’s almost always a good strategy when down a goal or two late. It increases your odds of scoring to tie the game. It also obviously increases the odds of the other team scoring to extend their lead…but really, it doesn’t matter unless you care about goal differential as losing by 2 is the same result as losing by 1 - a regulation loss and zero points.

So again, the strategy of pulling the goalie when down late isn’t the issue. It’s the execution of that strategy that’s just not there. And obviously the frequency of being behind late in games so often is the even bigger issue.

These are the sorts of issues teams deal with when they suck.
In a vacuum maybe it raises the chances of scoring for the league as a whole. It does not seem to be the case for the Blues. I have no problem with pulling the goalie, but to do so with 3 minutes left and not even with clean possession is just suicidal for this group.
I mean you have to do it. Suicidal? This team can’t score at ES and hasn’t since first period of the Tampa game.
Have they scored a 6 on 5 goal at all this year?
It would be absolutely hilarious if they played it out 5on5 on this team. Hey…we’ve struggled scoring 6on5 so we are going to stop trying
I’m not saying to stop pulling the goalie entirely. I’m saying doing it with 3 minutes left without possession is dumb because of what this group has shown

But they’ve also shown they are one of the worst teams in history scoring period.

They are a joke.

Yep. The timing was weird. There was still time left to either gain possession or force a faceoff in the O-zone. No need to pull the goalie so desperately with just under 3 minutes left.

Three minutes seems a little long for being just one goal down. No one can make sense of that.

These guys look like they are, 'Afraid of being the reason, and for why, they don't know.

There's not a doubt in my mind. Right is wrong when it's wrong and wrong is right, when it's right
depending on the outcome of the play or night.
it seems clear. Someone is to blame every night, and I bet the coachs lashing are hardheaded, emasculating and personal.

Steen must be like … yeah thanks.

He would have been fired a very long time ago in a normal market

I guess I'm a bad fan because at this point I encourage anything that can go wrong to go wrong. Pull the goalie with 8 minutes left. Triple shift Sundquist. Have Walker and Kessel manning the powerplay. Put Thomas on LTIR and trade anyone and everyone. Start Binner 28 of the last 32.

It's time to embrace the tank. This team currently sits with the 3rd worst record in the league. Keep it going please. I know there isn't a hockey player alive that is going to want to go out and lose intentionally. It doesn't need to be intentional. As the late, great Herb Brooks was so famous for saying "play your game." If the Blues continue to "play your game" that magical top 5 pick should appear naturally.

I very much appreciate his part in the Cup run. The Cup was the thing, a brutal off on switch. Yes no. And he was part of giving us yes, you can't ever take that away because it's real. Aside from that the later lack of accountability is disappointing. tbh it is not even close to the most cataclysmic disappointments of the modern world era, so it's not even an important thing to fix except for the handful of us, who are just asking for further prize after the first was delivered. People who are at each other's throats anyway.

Oh I was 100% rooting for a loss last night. It wasn't really strategic even though it got them the second worst record as we sit here this morning. I suppose if I hadn't had my own array of difficulties that mapped onto the season thus far I might have tolerated it better. The problem is, I am responding to my own troubles in an intentional way that confirms I should be ashamed of how these guys respond to theirs. Hard to cheer for a team you don't even respect.

That’s right, but for me I’d swap out “team” for organization.

I don't need a hug. I need people to take responsibility for themselves. Very different needs

as long as you are responding your best, you are winning, even when you are running bad and actually losing. If you are responding in a winning way and are rock solid about it, you don't need comfort you need time to swing back your way.

I think if Buchnevich even read a sentence like that he'd have internal bleeding. Dust off the puck and fire it wide some more. Make a face
