Guy also can’t field his position.
Why are people so attached to their ego?
It’s okay you were wrong about a baseball man not baseballing very good.
Like, you’ll be okay to accept that you were wrong. Life will go on. In fact, you may develop some character by humbling yourself.
WC is a cross-eyed low IQ self identified hero who has never hit more than 24 HR’s in his career and spent most of his prime hitting like .240
He’s too intellectually slow (see cross-eyes and emotional instability) to play the catching position.
It’s amazing to me so many of you liked his signing.
It’s even more amazing you thought look-at-me rage was ‘leadership’.
It’s certainly why the generations of most of Cards Talk have been massively fooled by every major event of the 20th and 21st century.
Where is all this angst you talk about? I haven't seen many people here upset over the trade. He didn't fit in a rebuild. It seems you are the one who is obsessed with him. It's time to move on. Go join a Red Sox forum if you want to carry on your hate campaign.

Willson Contreras has a career batting average of .258, with 172 home runs and 548 runs batted in as of the end of the 2025 season. He has been selected as an All-Star three times and was part of the 2016 World Series champion Chicago Cubs team.
2.5 WAR in 2025. Pretty consistently about a 3 WAR player. He was 4th on the team in WAR. Only Gray, Winn and Donovan had more. So how do you feel now?
He should feel stupid to reflect what he is. But self-reflection seems to escape him.

Ok
I like Contreras but agree it was time to move on.
He can be replaced.
But as usual you went over the top and off the deep end!
Agree. I like Contreras but I’m not silly enough to believe he can’t be replaced. He was what he was meant to be when the cardinals got him which is a complimentary player to arenado and goldy who were supposed to be the big bats in the lineup. They flamed out spectacularly and Contreras was thrust into the spotlight of having to be the guy which he isn’t and was never meant to be. Like I said burleson will replace Contreras numbers easily and either they bring in a platoon bat that the platoon will easily replace Burlesons numbers last season or he trades for an everyday young player who can replace those numbers.
Losing Donovan would hurt. Still hope they keep him!
There are guys out there on a one year deal.
Ex- Hunter Renfroe type.
JJ could be an impact bat. Wish he hit RH.
Maybe Noot will finally do something??????

Isn’t one of the key topics at the moment the need for a right handed hitter with power ?
Didn’t Contreras have 20/80 last season?
Not so much a matter of replacing WC but his production from the right side - perhaps the stat heads can tell us just how many RH hitters are out there who are realistically available to fill this void?
Hunter Renfroe’s productive days are well past.

Awe don't worry his production from the right side is "easy to replace".
The delusional believe that without giving any possible names or what it will cost in terms of dollars and or players/prospects.

Slow it down Hoss. Not too many people here in "angst" over trading Contreras. You might be over reacting just a litttttle bit.

Agreed. He turns 34 next year and is not your future.
However, sometimes posters need to wet their pants with complaints.

He was meant to be the catcher, which became a failed situation a month into his tenure.
He was then moved to 1B to be a 30 HR hitter , which he couldn’t do (bc he never has).
WC caused nothing but problems since day 1.
His 90 million should have been allocated to pitching.
He blocked the catching development of Herrera.
He stole so many DH at bats from others.
He stunted the 1B development of Burleson.
He was paid a lot of money to fail at his signed position and hit .260 with mild power while blocking others.
The Cubs made the right decision to walk away and they succeeded.
The Brewers made the right decision to acquire his younger, better brother and they succeeded.
It was a stupid deal from day 1 and way too many Cardinal fans supported it.
Find me one credible source where this was ever mentioned and I will Venmo you $20.

In a post chock full of doo$hbag comments, “he blocked the catching development of Herrera” might be the doo$hiest.
Herrera’s noodle arm and the team’s lack of commitment to player development in the minor leagues stunted his development, not Contreras.

This is the type of demonic zero character behavior often found on boards like this.
It was unironically discussed that a move to 1B mixed w DHing instead of dealing w catching would yield more power and production from WC.
You are a certified bad person for saying that
