The Dodgers signed Chuckie Robinson to a minor league deal. Every team has minor league signings like this. Maybe they're close on a Romero trade or just want depth at AAA.

Source: LHP Jared Shuster has agreed to a minor league contract with the Cardinals that includes an invitation to @MLB spring training.
Shuster was a 1st round pick from 2020. I guess it's worth a flyer.
I was told last week first round picks are a sure bet.
Who told you that?

No one told him that - he's taking a passive-aggressive swipe at cranny, I believe.

Maybe they can throw in Noot with JoJo or Nado to get em out

Yay! Another dumpster dive. I thought Mo was the low hanging fruit guy. LOL
Good lord. It's a minor league deal.
Let me translate that for you. It's a salary dump with a lottery ticket. Let me ask you, how many guys can you protect on the 40 man roster? LOL
How is this a salary dump?

If he does anything in 2026, Bloom , like with other pitchers, would flip him for prospect(s).
Otherwise he kelps him as potential reliever for future.
No downside if he doesn’t produce.
Another lefty.

Signing a guy to a minor league deal is a salary dump with a lottery ticket? Interesting.

Oh boy another pitcher. Just what we needed.
It will be funny if all these pitchers ever get healthy at the same time and then no one gets enough innings to project across a full season of MLB rotation service.

I wonder if Gastulem is in the plan to go North with the team, 6th or 7th inning guy?
Have to see how the BP arms shake out.

Trading Contreras for minor league players is a salary dump. You're right in that this isn't a salary dump it's just signing low hanging fruit instead of investing the money cut with the trade.

The salary dump was Contreras. This is a lottery ticket and a smudged one at that.

I don't see a future with Shuster. I suspect the trainers want to see what so many other teams have discovered before they jettison him. He has used up all of his option years. As Bryan Walton said:
Just think of this as one of many depth moves and not as a Romero replacement and all should be good.

Somebody has to pitch minor league innings. Can’t have all future Cy Young winners in the minors.

So you admit it's low hanging fruit and in it's current state doesn't help the Cardinals at all?
