Obviously just floating an opinion but I wonder if Koperniak hit RH if he would have gotten more of a look?
Cards pretty overloaded from LH side.
The Cards OF hit this last season…..if a AAA guy can’t break thru with that crew…he needs move on
.215, 6HR
.216, 5HR
.234, 13HR

Bloom needs to trade Contreras and Nootbaar to try to get an outfield upgrade. Bring in at least one productive hitter.

Nootbaar is coming off surgery and Contreras is pricy. They need to trade Burleson for a promising young OF with the full six years of team control. Someone mentioned Carson Benge from the Mets. Sounds good to me.

A really good hitter.
His hitting went down badly in 2025. Not good for a 27 year old.
Cranny, wasn’t this one of the Farmhands you were tirelessly beating the drum about?
I was impressed with his 2024 season, when he slashed .309/.370/.512/.882. Touted him at that point. Then in 2025 he dropped off to .246/.317/.382/.699.

It’s not surprising to me that his stats fell from 2024.
After 2024 he gets put on the 40-man, he’s probably thinking he’ll finally get a shot, especially after the pathetic performances of our starting outfielders in ‘24.
Then shortly into spring training ‘25 he gets sent back to the minors camp, once again without getting a decent shot.
I hope he gets picked up and sticks with somebody.

Matt is a AAAA hitter. We don’t need more guys that are almost good enough to maybe crack the roster when one of your first four OFers are injured. We need difference makers.
I would have considered making this move (or Roycroft) before the rule five and protected Cade Winquest.

The entire outfield consists of AAAA hitters!
There is definitely the need for at least one upgrade.

I think where people like myself are coming from in relation to getting a chance. It has to do with success vs reward. The minors system is not an easy place to rise above. (bleep) bus rides, cheap rooms, lousy food day in, and day out. Expected to each day be rested enough, and in good enough spirits to go out and hit the ball with some average or better defense. Year after year when most guys that age are out making money, dating girls and overall enjoying their lives. As a ball player your expected to forgo it all and stay laser focused on producing well enough to get a shot at the show. Koperniak and other guys like him had put together good enough seasons to have earned at least a month on an average at best MLB team. He could not get that though while guys like Siani, Scott and Walker got all the playing time in the world. He had to of been disappointed to have had the 2024 season he had to then get sent down to AAA without even a look. We will never know if he was the victim of an injury, unfair bias or all of the above in 2025 that cast him out of consideration.
Either way I would hope moving forward that when guys do have those kinds of seasons that they at least get a fair shot to show their worth.
I will never understand why Siani and Scott have gotten as much playing time as they had. Their defense was never that far above Koperniaks that the lack of a bat should have been the deciding factor. I am hoping Church does better or he will also be buried in the system. Scott needs more AAA time just like Walker. We need some other guys getting a shot to show if they can stick from our system. We do not need any more Garcia's and Arozarena's happening. Here's hoping Koperniak finds a place somewhere he can get a shot and will succeed.
