Or will it be kind of like last season with not a true ace-type starting pitcher. How is the '26 staff shaping up, overall, compared to the '25 staff? It seems to me there could be, at least, a slight upgrade in '26. Depending on how Liberatore, McGreevy and Pallante progress. Leahy's ability to start. And if May and Fitts can stay healthy.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Define " ace".
A starter than is pretty sure to win games. Stop a losing streak. Regularly go deep into games. Be at least a 17 game/season winner.
Skenes was 10-10. Was he not an ace?

Every team has their Ace. That’s 30 Studs. A couple borderline two Aces. So what. It’s where your Aces stack up against the league Aces. That’s where we fail.

Will the Cardinals have an "ace" this season?
Now that's funny
Wainwright’s last ace‑caliber season is generally considered to be 2021, when he finished 7th in Cy Young voting
No ace
No Gibson/Carpenter on this roster

Ace is least of Bloom’s concerns. He is trying to rebuild the team to be a consistent winning type team.

I believe your assertion of Ace is least of his concerns; now. It will at some point in this redo become a point.

they will have their version of an ace however you want to define that. However our "ace" will most likely rank in the bottom 3rd of the league when compared to other teams "aces".

Absolutely
Four of them in the clubhouse every game!
ACE of Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts at the players card table.

Beware of the Queen of Spades. Her black widows curse might find you yet.

Makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed
The only card I need
Is the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades

I think the closest we will get is if the Cardinals trade for a guy like Bryce Miller in a Donovan deal.
