I think the very much still alive Albert Brooks would be quite shocked to learn that he's apparently now gone.

Wow. I don't know how I got that so wrong. Glad to know he's still with us.

Apparently, someone did not rush out to go see the new film 'Ella McCay'. On another note, did anyone rush out to go see 'Ella McCay'?

To be fair, I wasn't 100% certain he was still alive either so I looked it up to make sure.

It has happened to me before. Somehow, years back, I got the idea that Bob Newhart had died, years before he did, and I was so sure about it I didn't even check, until making just such a remark as above, and was soundly rebuked by someone who, for some reason unknown to me then or now, was (correctly) -certain- of his continued persistence above ground. Thing is, for a lot of people only marginally on the radar, we'd be hard pressed to say, either way, who was alive or dead, unless we had a definite memory. Or, as in this case, a definite false memory.

In my defense, Bob Newhart is now, in fact, indeed, up there in the comedy clouds, w/ his Harp, taking celestial phone calls. So I was only temporarily wrong.

Differnt Brooks, me bucko. This seems like some sort of wacky comedy sketch of miss attributions or one sort or another.

Until I heard his name mentioned over the weekend for celebrating his 100th birthday, I had no idea that Dick Van Dyke was still alive.

Nah...I hope my comment came off in the humorous spirit that was intended.

This very grim thread quickly devolved into guys at a bar trying to remember what they were just talking about. In a way that kind of delights me.

Anyway, I think we were talking about Albert Einstein, who died in 1955. James L. Brooks directed "In Cold Blood."

It absolutely came off the way you intended! I was having a little fun at Ike’s expense myself!
