I heard Ryan Suter played a shift last night.
I heard that too!

That's the perfect example of why some guy sitting in a chair determining if a puck can be saved is a useless way to determine if there was goaltender interference or not.

Can we grab him off waivers and then trade him to the Leafs for Matias Maccelli?

OR

Just grab him tomorrow off waivers and keep him to trade at the TDL.

I guess it's the Penguins cutting salary for upcoming sale.

Frequently caught up ice his entire career from extending shifts. That is why his last teams moved on. When he was a first or second pairing with Minny they put up with but he was over extending big time there. No thx.

Agreed. That and his positioning is always questionable, I've seen him screen his goalie more often than box a guy out or block a shot, and I've seen him make some brutal turnovers or panic up and outs too many times. Every now and then he plays a steady, solid, transitional game with some physical play and hard shot, but it's few and far between.

With that said, he can't be worse than the Tucker / Kessel rotation.

I wonder if this turns into a Saad, Texier thing where he clears waivers and terminates his contract rather than play in the minors.

I think with guys his and their age with over market contracts who get put on waivers in the middle of the season this is the route all of them will take.

Yep, seems to be the new norm. The other that’s happened a few times now is when a guy with a NTC blocks a trade, a team then waives him and said team claims them. Barclay Goodrow and Nick Leddy come to mind.
