TB, with the Mets losing Diaz. They might be interested in obtaining Romero, too. How about Contreras (with 10M), Nootbaar and Romero in exchange for Benage and either Tong or Sproat? That would be a blockbuster that could help both organizations.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 13:14 pmSometimes I have to take BTV with a grain of salt. In the case of Contreras I have to dismiss it altogether. I had a thread recently about whether his contract was really underwater. I compared his production to Josh Naylor who had just signed a contract for an AAV ever so slightly higher than Contreras. WC and JN were almost identical in every meaningful offensive category. Contreras plays better defense. While older, his contract is also shorter. BTV has a value of -2.8 for Josh Naylor and -14.9 for Contreras. With the Naylor signing being a fresh, market value signing (most believe he could have gotten more, but wanted to come back to Seattle), I take that to be the true market value for that level of production at that position, and would value Willson more closely to Naylor's value.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 09:34 amI would take Tong (BTV +25.for Contreras (-14.1) and Nootbaar (+11.9) in a second, but the Mets would never do that.
That said, if the Mets truly do have interest in both Nootbaar and Contreras, you should be able to send them along with 10M for a prospect like Carson Benge (would make Craviduce and I both very happy). Benge is the #21 prospect in baseball and should start the year at AAA. He seems likely to be ready for MLB before the season is over.
Tong, or Sproat carry as much value on their own as Benge. The proposal I made for Benge is already a little bit of a reach and you may have to include Romero just to get that done. I think you are right that they would like to have Romero, but don't think adding him to the package gets you anywhere close to Tong or Sproat, imo.Shady wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025 14:18 pmTB, with the Mets losing Diaz. A "savvy GM" would go get Carson "Benage" and Miguel "Biels" this offseason. That would be a "bonanza!"

At least I forecasted that Burleson was going to be an outstanding MLB hitter. Something you fumbled "big time".
