That’s why my original comment being skeptical about his health.Shady wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:51 pmYou do understand there was a fairly serious injury issue for a pitcher, right?Jatalk wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:41 pmI’m not sure how to respond to that. But if 75 innings does it for you, that’s great.Shady wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:17 pmI agree. I've seen some video of Fitts pitching to some MLB hitters. It's exhilarating. https://www.mlb.com/cardinals/news/rich ... aeacab6136Cranny wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:15 pmIt may have been a salary dump, but picking up a major league starter and a very high ceiling pitching prospect
was excellent.

There are certain CT posters here that seem allergic to any kind of positivity regarding the Cardinals. Ex. Burleson's Silver Slugger Award,, Fitts' potential to help the starting rotation, etc. To each their own.

We're all rooting for a healthy Dick Fitts.

When he pitched in Boston last year he was plagued by giving up an inordinate number of HRs. Some of that might have just been a fluke over a small sample of innings and some may have been pitching in Fenway.
If the Cardinals can help him get his HRs down to just ML average it looks like he would be a solid #4/#5 SP.

I could see him making the team as middle/long relief and spot starter. He had "right arm Neuritis" last season which seemed to shut down his season. His AA number in 2023 weren't outstanding but weren't bad either.
I wonder if full time starter would be too much for his arm but if healthy I agree he could be a #4/5 starter.

Re: If Fitts is 100% healthy
While you could do this thought exercise with any mediocre pitcher, if you remove his worst outing from 2025 - a start against LAA where he allowed five runs on three homers in 1 IP - Dick Fitts would've had a 4.09 ERA and 1.227 WHIP.
Certainly good enough to depart Jupiter in the 2026 STL rotation, but appears to be a SP that Marmol will have to pair with a long reliever.

He could be a solid addition, provided he can stay healthy and provide innings
