Been playing and watching baseball all my years, so I ask, who do fans want? Do they want to spend a small fortune on mediorce food and drink? Do they want all the hassle of getting to the park and into a seat? Do they recall their favorite players, no matter from which era? Players like Pujols, Molina, Gibson, Musial, etc.? Do they want their team to win on the day they attend no matter the outcome of the season? There are 30 MLB teams....if each one, won a WS, your favorite team would win 1 out of every 30 years? Winning the WS is a long shot to say the least. FANS LOVE THEIR PLAYERS...not uniforms, not stadiums, not OPS, they want to see their beloved players have a good day. We watched the Cubbies be horrible for years and years and still fill Wrigley. Acting like players are nothing more than trading chips results in ZERO loyalty from your players and most fans!

Players have zero loyalty to their teams oh sure they say they want to stay but chase the highest dollar they can

Elite superstar HOf caliber players in their prime is the correct answer. I have went to 1 game in last 3 seasons and it was to see the Dodgers at reduced cost, I will not go again until Cardinals have those types of players

Donovan is a fan favorite who is just entering his prime. He walks the walk and leads by example. Why do you think the stands are almost empty? There is zero loyalty...owners, front office, fans and players, and they aren't listening to their fanbase... and nothing is sacred.

He’s not a future HOF player fans come by thousands to buy a jersey of. Just because he’s the best player on a bottom feeder does not make him a draw

I dont think I could DISagree with you more. I think fans want to see their "uniform" win, more far more than one player having a "good day".

I dont think I ever heard anyone say, "the Cards got creamed, but I'm happy, Victor Scott had 3 hits".

I see it just the opposite of you. Players change teams all the time. The names on the back of the jersey are interchangeable. I want the name on the FRONT of the jersey to have a "good day".

As far as making the players feel like trading chips? What do the players do come contract time? Loyalty pretty much left dock back in the 70s. Teams do what's best for the team, players do what's best for the players. No different than any of us fans.

I want to remind everyone the young minded fans don't hold your sentiment. They feel betrayed when their fav players leave the team year after year. Most on this forum think like management and almost never like fans. That's not necessarily bad but the super low attendance is the result of a betrayal which transcends a W/L record for some.

The Cardinals have, in fact, made a habit of extending multiple veteran players - Carpenter, Molina, Mikolas, etc. - when they shouldn't have. They hold on to players too long, if anything.

All of has contributed to how they are in the mess they are in where a rebuild is necessary.

Well first off, every [fork]ing team does this. So stop acting like other team’s rosters are filled with one-team players.

Second, I hold great sentimental value to many cardinals. But there is very little on this current roster to get sentimental about.

As I said earlier, Bloom ain’t exactly breaking up the ‘98 Bulls here…
