Can you name one poster who has suggested the Cardinals tank?

Cardinals fans need a legit payroll cap. Same thing fans of every mid to small market team needs. This game is withering on the vine.

I've been right here- almost everyday. I have heard people talk about rebuilding and how to do that. I haven't heard anyone talk about tanking. Different things. Even those favoring rebuilding, I would guess, would be disappointed if we weren't competing at least for a wildcard by 2027.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'm on that side as well. A youth movement may be the most exciting baseball we've seen in a few years. I hope Oli can provide and allow a little bit of excitement from the dugout

A salary dump except for the part where the team ate $20 million so that they could get a good prospect in return.

Cardinals new direction

\ 2023
..\ 2024
....\ 2025
......\ 2026
........\ 2027

2028 - Cardinals will be favored over the Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jay, Phillies or any other pretenders to win the WS and will keep this juggernaut team for the next 25 years. Real contenders, I tell ya! Both of their remaining fans will really enjoy it!

Wouldn’t the efficacy of a payroll cap depend on what level it set at? I mean if they put it at the 90th percentile of MLB salaries then maybe only two teams are even affected and most of us still can’t afford to spend anywhere near the cap.

Also isn’t there already a luxury tax for high spending teams? Isn’t that Tax supposed to come back to revenue sharing?

As long as the marmot is manager I won't spend a penny because with him they are telling me they aren't serious about winning or building a winning culture. They need a vet outside the organization manager, only way it'll work

Remind me what it looks like when the Cardinals “ go all in to win “ it’s been so long ago, I can’t seem to remember what that looks like!

100% agree. I'd put it at the average of the #15 team and #16 team. Dodgers are #1 at $350 million. Marlins were #30 at $67 million. $15 was Seattle at $165 million. #16 was Baltimore at #158. I'd set it at $161.5 million.

There is a luxury tax but it obviously isn't serious enough a penalty and the cap in 2025 was $241 million which is $80 million over the mid level of $161 million. MLB needs to take a look at the NFL, NHL and NBA to see what their penalties are for going over the cap and they need to put the cap at what I suggested.

I have little confidence this will happen. A lot of small market teams like the revenue sharing money and don't care if their team wins or loses.

Well, back when they were "all in", they did happen to be lucky enough to have the best player of his generation, and the best catcher in MLB. Thats a pretty hood foundation to start with. Tough now to go all-in when management swung and missed on so many elements.

It’s more likely that rebuild will become perpetual. Then what?
