What do you think Bloom is asking for Donovan ?

I cruised over to btv and while I'm not a member, they had a simulated trade on the cover page of Rickey Tiedman, JoJo Parker, and Johnny King for Donovan. Thats the jays 2,4,5 prospects. A slight overpay in value. I don't know anything more than what you can read. Tiedman had tj before last season otherwise sounds a lot like Clarke. Parker is a ss likely to play 2nd or 3rd. Is this the type return we can expect? Or should we expect a player with a higher floor than Clatke and Tiedman?

Top tier prospect, lottery ticket and/or starting pitcher with some control (can't be picky there, so maybe 1 or 2 years left in Arb), and a Competitive Balance pick in the 2026 draft...if the team we trade with doesn't have a CBP, then $200K in IFA bonus allotment.

Maybe I'm being too greedy? But that seems on par for Donovan's BTV. PLease, correct me if I'm wrong....too much/too little.

edit ~ the starting pitcher won't be a great one...4.00-4.50 ERA, but can hurl 150 plus innings.

When I first started reading this thread I had the same basic thought, get a throw in pitcher on the deal. Is that really a good way to go? You can pick up a Kirk GIbson/Lance Lynn type for nothing just about anytime to fill that spot. So maybe better to upgrade the prospect or international money. Either way works.

The more I read about all of the teams lining up for a chance to trade for Donovan. It's seems this is a rare opportunity to stack the shelf by filling needs with quality players. Ex. a high level starting pitcher with some years of team control and a RH hitting power hitter. Actually, of LH power hitter would do if he is/could be a legit MOTO hitter.

That's a good idea regarding possibly adding a catcher (Catdinals have an abundance) to enhance a deal for something really special in a Donovan deal.

For sure (as all GM's do ) , Bloom is playing the game when asked about Donovan . The standard line would be 'well , it would take a substantial return to give up Donovan but I am willing to listen . If I get his value, I would consider it . Sure !

So then in general terms , the teams would be asking Bloom so what areas are you seeking ? (not specific names initially but pitchers vs position players.. major leaguers / prospects )

It was a mistake to leak to a reporter that he wanted to trade Donovan. Teams are going to lowball him thinking he is desperate. Now he's walking it back saying he might keep Donovan if he doesn't get enough.
