I’m happy for it. Bloom might end up being awful and not being able to turn the franchise around but mo definitely wasn’t able to turn the organization around after slowly destroying it over the years. Bloom already has points in my book because he’s bringing in a lot of people from other good organizations instead of doing the mo create an echo chamber of yes men around yourself from within the organization approach

I wouldn't say I'm "loving" it so far, but I'm cautiously optimistic. We'll see in a few years how things pan out. Our development system was in shambles because we were so far behind in coaching, scouting, analytics, and technology. Some steps have been made to address those issues with more to come. You can love or hate Dewitt, it doesn't matter. I think he can spend more, but he's not going to spend $300 million and wants to build from within. Bloom is a good fit for that model. He built a strong farm system with Tampa and Boston. He made some good and bad trades in Boston (not counting Betts as a bad trade, he was following orders). Ultimately, baseball america rankings don't win you any trophies. It will need to eventually translate to wins on the field for it be a success, and we won't know the results of that for a few years. Until then we just need to keep acquiring as much talent as we can (draft, trades, rule 5, international signings), let the coaches do their job, and hope we hit the jackpot with a few of them.

I have been one of the front offices longest standing critics. I started bringing up red flags 14 years ago.

I do have concerns on the direction of the team but keeping Marmol wasn’t one of the concerns.

2026 is going to be another throw away season. There was little reason to fire Marmol and bring in another manager.You are not getting a top level manager to take this job.

Why pay two managers to still be bad. I am not advocating extending him. Let Bloom hire his guy at the end of the contract when more of the core is in place.

The organization is already working to address flaws in their player development process. Time will tell if it works, but for now it’s too early to trash the changes.

person that you can work with that has leadership qualities, information is spoon fed anyway
and most these guys have been around the game since grade school.

The NHL had two separate issues of teams circumventing their cap. They closed both loopholes. It’s not difficult to make sure deferred money doesn’t circumvent it. There is zero reason to stop players from deferring money.

It’s not difficult to avoid this circumventing a cap.

If a player signs a 100 million 10 year deal and defers 70 million of it until 2040, all you do is count $10 million against the cap each year for the ten years of the deal.

The "have" teams are in major media markets, but the "have-not" teams are not. Explain (you can't) how that will be addressed in future MLB policies.
