Hard pass. Old and washed up..and a nasty Me First SOB. Don't need the likes of him spoiling our fetid punch any further.

I don't hate it.

If Gray's gone, we probably do need a designated old fart to be there for what will probably be a pretty young and very inexperienced rotation.

Given that we aren't going to spend big bucks for someone younger and better...who better than Max? Dude's trophy cases probably have trophy cases. And he's clearly still got the bulldog attitude.

Frankly I don't know how people who supposedly pay attention to the game come up with a topic like this.

I don't know. Maybe somebody that follows the game would realize Scherzer started the 7th game of the World Series. That's a pretty big deal. IMO

I don't know, Maybe somebody would realize he's good for only 80 innings a year, and he's on the wrong end of 40. Maybe somebody would realize a team wants Gray for 30million more than they want Scherzer and half a season for 13million.

That's a Big Deal

Please elaborate. Also, could he improve the Cardinals starting pitching in '26? Since he's a FA, this seems like a relevant topic for discussion.

He's not going to play for a rebuild.

He's got enough money for 100 lifetimes. He wants to play for a contender.

LOL.....blunt but well said!
Scherzer to the Cards makes zero sense even if Gray is traded.

Yeah don't mean to be but some of these topics.

Scherzer is used to the spotlight that isn't going to happen here.

But isn't it worth discussing? Since the Cardinals' starting rotation, obviously, needs help.

Well, if he stays in STL, it might give him a good chance to play for a contender.

Sign Max, and put in the contract that if he wants to be traded at the DL, the org must fulfill his wish and he has full veto power.

I enjoy Hot Stove talk and we get a lot of great discussion.
But.....some of this stuff is puzzling.

"He's got enough money for 100 lifetimes". On the other hand, maybe that's a reason to finish out his career with his hometown team. Just a thought.

Yeah and if has yet another injury which certainly will occur the team is out salary which apparently they can ill afford to lose. Thus him not having any trade value at the deadline.
