He would instantly be your best defenseman.

Meh…too big of a risk when there are high octane forwards available. Blues can’t keep drafting dmen or trading for them and passing on elite forwards.
Schaefer of course you draft all day long…Verhoeff is not that guy for me at this point and I doubt he gets to that point and of course this all depends on the Blues getting a top 2 pick. Long way to go before that happens

I'd be shocked if they finished with a top 5 pick. That being said the team needs more depth in the prospect pool at C and RD. We only have Mailloux and Jiricek, which means we have no idea what we have to solve for our aging RD. If we have a long jam of RD's, I've heard that they are expensive to trade for so we could get something nice back if they all hit.

I like Dvosrky but you can't know really what he will develop into. Who is the next prospect that looks like he could be a 2C in our pipeline? Heck do we have a legitimate 3C in the pipeline?

Behind Dvorsky; we have Stancl, Korotky and Jecho.

Stancl looks every bit the part of a developing 3rd line center.
Korotky is doing extremely well in the KHL; but who knows how that translates anymore(not to mention it's difficult to get a read on his overall game with the current situation).
Jecho is still inconsistent offensively but has NHL caliber tools.

And there's still Dean to consider once/if he comes back from rehab.

Definitely not the strong point of our system, but not exactly "empty" either. Still, it's the first place I'm looking to upgrade if I had a choice.

Why not ask these questions before game 1 then? I mean if we are discussing draft position why wait until the first month is over, just expect the worst before the season even starts and work from there.

A lot of the time, at the root of bickering is bad goaltending and that's what has happened to us out of the gate.

It would be cool to have the Stenberg brothers. But man, reading descriptions about Verhoeff, he sounds an awful lot like Chris Pronger when he came out.
