Yeah, without Yamamoto I think the Dodgers would lose. Incredibly lucky to have him under the circumstances. That all these factors came about in one place at one time is remarkable. If Toronto had won I'd have given it to the kid that had more hits than anybody, can't remember his name right now.

They absolutely would’ve lost. He pitched 18 innings all in games they won with a 1 handle ERA. Who was the last pitcher to do that?CCard wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 04:46 amYeah, without Yamamoto I think the Dodgers would lose. Incredibly lucky to have him under the circumstances. Bobby Richardson of the Yankees was the 1960 WS MVP when they lost to Bill Mazeroski and the Pirates. Richardson set a record for hits in one Series with 13 that year (since tied by the great Lou Brock in 1968 and Marty Barrett of the Red Sox in 1986; how come these hits always come when losing the Series?).ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 00:47 am I think for this series a great case can be made for Vlad Jr. being the best player in this series. Not only did he hit a ton but he made several spectacular plalys at 1st base .. diving stops, that throw from 1st to 3rd nailing runner.
Unfortunately , we have been trained that the MVP of any game or series MUST be someone from the 'winning team . I once asked a guy about that . He told me it ALWAYS is a player from the winning team . ( I was waiting for that comment ) I quickly replied , Oh no ! I remember a Super Bowl football game where the game MVP was from the losing team .
He asked , Who the H was that and what game ? I don't believe you .
I said Well it was Chuck Howley LB for the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl V (5) vs. the Baltimore Colts . Cowboys lost 16-13 1971 was the year and I was 23 years old . Always remembered that .
Howley was selected MVP for intercepting 2 passes and making 1 fumble recovery . He was the MVP .
