I'd rather see a great team made up of good players, and the Blues didn't draft any of those guys (and Hull wasn't even a TOP116 pick).

Not Neighbours?
Not Tuggy?

You can add names from there but those four are the core in my opinion.

I'm sure a lot of folks would list Neighbours in place of Holloway.

Tuggy is still getting snuggled in to the league. Just the kind of player the Blues like to trade early because you have to give to get as they say.

Sounds like Neighbours needed his leg amputated the other night and chose to keep playing.

Yeah. He's a leader.

Not to mention the accolades Monty was saying in the news conference. The intangibles he brings on the ice and in the locker room, along with the skill, is what every team looks for.

In a situation like that once you take the boot off it's game over. I'm assuming he kept the boot on until the end and realized how bad it was once the skate was unlaced.

Neighbours is 100 percent a cornerstone piece for this team. Potential 30-plus goal scorer that brings grit and competitiveness...exactly the kind of "good player" that makes up a "great team".

I hear you. Dude was in serious pain nonetheless. Didn't the broadcast team say he needed some sort of assistance getting on and off the plane?

I don't disagree to a point. Jake Neighbours is a heck of a hockey player. I'm glad he is with the Blues.

However Neighbours is a re run of Schenn or to a lesser degree Oshie.

That guy Army decided was worth one Troy Brouwer, who wouldn't resign with the team.

Its the prototypical blue collar nonsense they try to sell the fans constantly.

Appreciate this mid to slightly better than mid skilled player because he works so darn hard.

Were a blue collar town and a blue collar team.

You can always go admire other teams franchise players. We don't have time for that here.

Holloway hits and fights for dirty ice. He looks a bit thinner to me, but I haven’t got great looks.

He’s been thrown around a bit this year…and guys are going to be targeting him now. Interested to see how it goes.

It did not look like he took the shot off of the foot? So, do you think his foot really swelled up?
It appeared to me that it was extremely hard off of the side of the knee, in which case he could have cracked or chipped his upper tibia, or even possibly had a severe sprain (slight tear) to the MCL or LCL? I couldn't tell if the impact was inside or outside of knee. He was all warmed up blood flowing and I'm sure with some topical freeze etc. during intermission, he still could maneuver around okay. But once after the shower and a bit of time, the swelling and confirming XRAY or MRI brought home the reality. In any case, out of caution to keep it from becoming much worse, it is prudent to let it heal. Depending on how that all goes, hopefully he could be back in 4 weeks, but unfortunate regardless.
We'll find out.

Awkward way to block a meaningless shot in game #9 of the season.

I feel like Holloway hasn't found his groove yet, I think the line shuffling has some to do with that but he is still out there hustling and generating a bit. It feels like he is guessing where people are going to be, I don't see him has a negative player too often but I have seen a few careless giveaways that look like rust to me.

Shot looks strong, skating looks fine, he's had a few monster hits but I see a bit a slowness on his decision making that scream mental rust or inconsistent linemates to me. I have almost 0 concern about him after last season and the motor he has, he will get it figured out.

I would imagine blocking it was instinctual, and good players compete every shift. It was unfortunate, but again...that's a guy you want on your team. Making business decisions during a game is the sort of thing people like to knock Kyrou for (I'm not saying that he does, but that's one of the frequent criticisms).

Perhaps he should practice the art of shot blocking during his 5 week layoff. So we don't have to endure another extended Neighbours injury at a critical point later in the season or playoffs (if they happen to get there).

I only saw the play the once live on TV, and I don't recall how he went to block it, but I'm sure he's practiced it thousands of times. Injuries happen.

Holloway has been off, but given that nearly everyone has looked terrible thus far, I think he will turn it around. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable judging anyone on this opening stretch because it would be easier to believe they had been placed under an actual curse than to think that they are really this bad.

He slid, like he was sliding into 3rd base. I'm sure he didn't practice blocking shots like that.
